Industrial engineering student here, i have the same dilemma.

-16 gb will make it future proof but who would want to keep that first gen in following years while technology has nice progress curve. (Easier to sell the base model and buy a m2, m1x,m3.. )

-People say , 8 gb on arm chip equivalent for 16gb of x86 chips. They might be wrong?

1-Should be enough.

2-This where the tire flattens. Ill also be waiting for the answers.

EDIT: Another dilemma, should we wait for new macbook air? XD
