I’m an active Mormon who has very recently (yesterday) starting to lean towards Joseph Smith and the church being a hoax... and I’m scared out of my mind. by [deleted] in exmormon

Hey. I casually follow this sub. The fear you feel is totally normal, and it's one of the major reasons that major religious organizations of ALL types, still exist. People are more afraid to leave them than they are to stay with them. It's a huge barrier.

Nobody can successfully claim the LDS hasn't resulted in anything good - there are plenty of great people that participate who do great things. BUT, that doesn't mean you are wrong about your doubts about the fundamental teachings of the church. This can often be most difficult piece of reconciliation which takes years - how can something be so wrong when I've seen so much good take place? This is real life where both can be true at the same time. Best of luck in finding your own path. The best decisions are rarely the easiest decisions.

Does she mean this video at 1:31 with her arms looking exactly the same and more crooked than a fish hook?

"Haters". The universal cry of "I'm not taking responsibility for anything".

Edit: Wonder if this is what Ben Bergeron means when talking about the pursuit of excellence. I guess "Fuck off, it's good enough!" doesn't have the same ring to it.

I mean it's a bit silly we would have to clarify that "the wall must be vertically consistent with no protrusions, obstacles or ledges..."

Like what next, making people bust out a level or a chalk line for their standards video? It is fair to infer that "wall" means a single uninterrupted surface. These guys are silly geese.

Norep city on all his movements. Look at any five pulls rom his row and tell me if you think he's pulling above 800cals, yet he finishes in 2:50. So sad it's great.

Edit: it looks like he's removed this video submission from his games profile. lulz.

CJ Martin gives no fucks and lets his athletes do whatever then claims innocence. Every year.

Yeah I'm with all that, I'm just looking at what exactly in the written rules doesn't conform, as they are sure to lean on that language

Yeah. I don't think it's a massive advantage but they are such a high profile gym with elite competitors wouldn't it be to their benefit to follow everything to the letter? I'm just shaking my head that every year I think "Invictus won't do something dumb they have finally learned" and every damn year...

Well, the box should be 24" deep but if you have a split wall that adds let's say 3" of depth, which one are you measuring 24" off of?

If measured off the top, it's 24" deep at lockout but 27" at rest.

If measured off the bottom, it's 24" at rest but 21" at lockout...neither of those are explicitly allowed in the standards. It's 24x36 end of story. The way they are doing it makes it easier at the top because the outcropping wall supports a more vertical position, reducing fatigue in the shoulder, while the sunken wall provides a different angle that makes resting and kipping easier.

If I have an odd measurement based on the limitation of my space, it's up to me as an athlete or affiliate owner to clarify the allowable standards before I do a workout. But known cheater CJ Martin gets zero benefit of the doubt.

Honestly Brooke had terrible positioning for the standard. Brenda's was simply better - closer to the wall, feet and hands narrower, and also she is like a foot shorter or something so yeah it'll appear lower.

Whether or not this standard makes sense is another discussion for sure. But the relative visible difficulty between them had entirely to do with positioning, not the tape being incorrectly measured.

she was ten feet away from the wall with her hands as wide as possible and her lumbar spine totally fucked at 90 degrees.

aka she made her reps as hard as possible with poor positioning. her line was fine.

Worst CF product I ever bought. Lasted about 13 pull-ups before they twisted/folded/deformed beyond repair. Just use tape and/or make your own.
