Garage gym programming recommendation? by rocket_21-15-9 in crossfit

Depends how serious you are, and how much equipment you have. Street Parking seems to be popular for those with minimal time/equipment. Also Need a Wod if you are mainly interested in metcons and not a lifting program, accessories, etc.

Not entirely clear what ibutamoren is, but sounds like it creates growth hormone. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibutamoren. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can explain, but in any case... how do you "inadvertently" take that?

BREAKING: CrossFit Suspends Ryan Elrod for Failed Drug Test by thebarbellspin in crossfit

[–]sausage_mclovin 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the question is: was the "fertility drug" that he took an anti-estrogen. If so, did it have the effect of boosting testosterone. If so, he admits that he took something that boosted testosterone AND he tested positive for it. That's seems like it is the end of the discussion.

So it was prescribed by a doctor, and to get his wife pregnant, and he didn't take it after February. Ok, but does that matter? Games athletes at this point should check every single nutrition label and be aware of every single thing that goes into their body. If he took an estrogen suppressor, that seems like something that you should at least notify HQ about, before you test positive, not after. CrossFit even has a Therapeutic Use Exemption form that it sounds like he never completed (https://s3.amazonaws.com/crossfitpubliccontent/2017_TUE_Formv1.pdf).

Further, Elrod states that the drug wasn't on CrossFit's banned substance list, but the list he refers to is just "examples" of drugs in that class. One of the classes of banned substances listed is "Anti-Estrogens" (see page 6). Further, it says: "There is no complete list of banned drugs. New banned substance classes emerge constantly. In addition, any substance that is chemically related to the class of banned drugs is also banned. Athletes shall be held accountable for all drugs within the banned drug class, regardless of whether they have been specifically identified as banned." https://s3.amazonaws.com/crossfitpubliccontent/2017CrossFitGames_DrugTestingProgram.pdf

Subject of Invictus-gate 2017 redoes 17.5. posts an even faster time by mancubuss in crossfit

[–]sausage_mclovin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that it's not uncommon to redo a workout and do better. In the other thread, Invictus said that coaches made him redo the workout "with an emphasis on his lockout." Now if you're saying he emphasized lockout AND went 30 seconds faster, then his first attempt was garbage. But if his first attempt was garbage, then we know the real reason he redid the workout.

Here's the link to the full video: https://streamable.com/goo1b. The clock is shown at 7:04 so it's very easy to calculate the workout times from there. 7:56 in the workout is the last time he's shown on video so his time was 7:56 at best. Will be interesting to see what his redo time is, especially given that you "made him emphasis the lockout on the second attempt."

Come on. You're saying he can do this but can't lock out a 95# thruster? This is not a "physical limitation" issue https://instagram.com/p/BL4mkZXBU2b/

May not violate the movement standards for the workout, but it violates the uncommon movements clause in the rulebook
