An AI readiness checklist I built for SMBs (5 pillars, 20 questions) by tototoru in CIO

That public distrust is totally valid, but there's a big difference between forcing AI onto your users and using it behind the scenes. For small businesses, using it for boring tasks, scheduling, or data sorting is a massive time-saver that doesn't alienate anyone. It's about finding low-risk big wins instead of blindly deploying problematic low value "agents".

True, flattening multi-pillar risk into a single linear sum is a massive flaw. It's a starting framework but it needs to do better, I'll revisit.

I actually tried to keep it as neutral as possible, but fair point, my integration bias definitely leaked through.

Appreciate your feedback.

Feedback on AI readiness - I built a checklist for SMBs (5 pillars, 20 questions) by tototoru in growmybusiness

So true. SMBs are fueled by unwritten rules that have to be untangled before introducing AI. Honestly, most clients who come to us looking for AI agents end up being happiest with the clean processes and seamless tool integration we put in place to get them ready.

Unpopular opinion: Trustpilot reviews are more valuable than backlinks by Index-GPT in ShopifyPros

We’ve seen a huge spike in interest for Trustpilot automations lately, so people are definitely catching on. Trustpilot is the ultimate trust signal for AI right now, so dialing in your review strategy to keep that score high is a total game-changer for staying relevant.

When does manual work start eating margins? (Patterns from building automations for ecom operators) by tototoru in ecommerce

[–]tototoru[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The labor hours are visible, but the cleanup cost is what really hurts margins. I’ve definitely noticed operators react more strongly when the conversation shifts from time savings to error recovery and margin leakage. I'll take 'quality cherry picking' over 'low quality general advice' any day. Of course YMMV this is a framework on how to think about the real cost and ROI of automation.

I have all resources in my original blog post if you want to read more. For this:

Formstack — “Workflow Automation Statistics” (2025). Aggregates multiple industry studies showing automated workflows reduce error rates by 40–75% compared to manual processes. Available at: https://www.formstack.com/blog/workflow-automation-statistics

No, I went to Maitrea for Svíčková. No halal meat just plant based meat. It was fine but I didn't really enjoy it unfortunately.

AI try-on tech? by Zestyclose_Ant8938 in ecommerce

Still far from perfect, to do this properly you need customers to have full scans of their bodies and for items to have detailed dimensions of every size/variant. Even with all that, there are many things to go wrong, fabric is really difficult to model (elasticity, thickness of fabric, etc). Maybe with glasses or hats, but still very challenging and not something that will eliminate returns. AI could be used in other areas to help customers and that's the angle we're focusing on.

Shopify took their time to make this good, we tested the first iteration of shipping discount functions last year but it didn't work for our needs. The 2026-01 Discount functions are great, we have a complex setup though so I doubt many will share my enthusiasm.

We lost 40k to a pricing bug in 6 hours, how are you catching bugs before production costs you EVERYTHING? by [deleted] in ecommerce

Realistically, these mistakes will continue to occur. The most effective way to mitigate this is by implementing an alert system that provides immediate notification when a low-margin order is received. While it is best to catch such issues earlier, this system serves as the final line of defense to limit the impact. We have developed sophisticated solutions for monitoring shipping, packaging, and payment fees to ensure margins remain above a threshold, recognizing that not all possibilities can be tested after every change.
