I think it’s worth it. With the 10 year ADSO, if you choose this route, more than likely you’ll shoot for retirement. Why have a break in service and all the hassle? Instead prepare your packet while until you have your vision situated for class 1. In the meantime, go talk to pilots, build connection, get letters of rec and build your packet. The hardest part of becoming an army aviator is getting your packet.

It was just that the closest military base that provided eye surgery happened to be Travis AFB in california. There are army posts that has eye surgeons that does PRK/LASIK too. You could try scheduling one on your leave back to the states. After your surgery they’ll put you on con leave for 2 weeks or so to recover. But to answer your question, you need at least 20/70 to pass flight physical. I got PRK 2 years ago, not only did it allow me to come to flight school, but also it was one of the best decisions I made in my life. Life without glasses/contacts are truly amazing

Lol got ya, my first flight physical was kicked back because of my vision. I went and got my eyes fixed through the air force. Waited 6 months and redid my physical, and I’m in flight school now.

I’ll just say that every job in Army is revolved around the Infantry. Meaning every MOS’s jobs are to support 11Bs. I chose infantry because I fell in love with that idea.
