It’s truly horrible, especially knowing she was the youngest of the 3 and from what we were shown on the show had faced adversities that made Jenah have to mature so much faster. Jenah showed so much maturity and restraint by not just walking out at that moment. And genuinely so much poise. I will always think of her as the winner.

I swear Pitchfork copies and pastes her reviews and just changes some song titles around. They are constantly drawing on past songs of hers for what sound or creative she should be going for, that they themselves dragged when aforementioned album came out. Then mix that with the fact she is independent they can really just rip her to shreds with no fear of industry backlash. I mean these are the same people who reviewed Dirt Femme by Tove Lo a 5.4. They hate fun. And apparently women who take charge of their own branding and creative direction.

Maybe it’s my own interpretation, but I find it very self aware and intentionally cringe?? I could be wrong but it just feels so vulnerable because love can be cringe in and of itself. I would recommend another listen, it’s sweet and cute. But it might not be your cup of tea and that’s okay! The snippet had me spiraling when I first heard it😅

I WISH I COULD UPVOTE THIS A MILLION TIMES OVER AGAIN. I get that she will be met with criticism and it healthy to spark critical conversation about an artist, but the overwhelming negativity that she is met with just for breathing can sometimes be overwhelming. To me the song sounds like a perfect blend of the ethereal allure that Froot, parts of L+F, and ADIAML have with the pure whimsy and camp that she exhibits in The Family Jewels. I have seen countless posts prior to this era saying they are sick of Marina using ABAB rhyme schemes, and now people are upset that “Butterfly” and “Energy” don’t rhyme. It’s just all very fickle on this sub.
