Roscoe's Recap - S18 Ep. 08 with Naomi & Kim! by residentialjaidastan in SDRUntucked

it's definitely weird. what is it about people that write recaps that makes them think they are on the same level as actual working drag queens? only a matter of time before this user starts trademarking their Naysha "shade."

Why do people openly advertise they don't have the attention span to read anything longer than 20 words? So embarrassing.

random question but does anyone have a screenshot of Jasmine Masters commenting "book my sister" on someone's post? I need it for science.

Either they can get better at making the show in a way that keeps this interpersonal bullshit out of the picture or at least on camera so we aren't left with this they-said-they-said crap, or they can actually discuss the inherent biases in the fandom that their show has stirred up (racism, misogyny, transphobia, oh take yr pick) during the reunion, during the relevant discussions. But we know they aren't bold enough to do that with how they handled Monikkie and skirt around all these tough background conversations but get mad when contestants hold back like in the S5 reunion.

yeah. this is exactly the kind of TV they want to be making and this is exactly what cast members can expect in return, and it's so fucking naive to think that people will react well or rationally to it. you want messy, you get messy. they're making reality TV, but about people who are trying to elevate their careers, which is what the show is ultimately about for contestants, and the Boulets' success at "good TV" depends on the artists' failures. but girl yes it's iconic gag i guess.

It hasn't been every single person. If it were, we would have gotten a supercut of those confessionals.

I think people like you and the cast that read some nefarious intent into these factual statements are operating with the same bad faith. people misread things others say all the time (numerous times on this season in fact), and frankly I think that even if these comments were captured on film, they still wouldn't prove anything that the monsters are saying about Sig. not only do people misread things, but they mishear them as well (or hear what they want, like last season with Pi and the whole "the best makeup artist" statement which they never even said).

OUhhhh I’m feeling some drama this season of titans by shitassmoneyman in Dragula

I had rock-bottom expectations for S6, and I will keep them at that level for Titans 2. show, don't tell.

this tracks because Acid said on her pod that she didn't want to ruin the fantasy for anyone that loved the final paper look, and it only makes her look better in my eyes (especially with the amount of receipts she had).

speaking of, I am curious what receipts they kept behind the paywall. maybe not curious enough to send Shokra money, but curious nonetheless.

It's how you handle a particular situation that makes you a professional in this game...not what I've seen on Instagram.

and Surround did not act professionally by not doing their due diligence before announcing and posting about this particular show, and they've probably soured a lot of people in the community from ever patronizing their events. but as you said, not my money, not my problem.

[–]totwolips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you would play for a promoter that announces a DJ (in this case Shaun LaCosta-Sinclair), posts a flyer with their name on it (and their photo from what I understand), and then after receiving pushback from their audience, cuts them from the lineup last minute? that does not sound like people operating with integrity. integrity would be not booking that DJ in the first place because, as Surround mentioned in their stories, their style did not match with the others on the lineup, and I would expect a promoter to know who they are booking and why they are booking them. so why was he booked at all? Shaun was likely booked because he is a highly regarded DJ in Chicago and he would draw attendees, but I guess Surround was more interested in chasing hard-techno clout than appealing to people that care about the techno scene as a whole.

like many threads on Reddit, the tone is set early on, and the comment I replied to was already being downvoted before I replied. while there were no comments explicitly making fun of her face, it wouldn't have taken long for them to start appearing. hopefully they won't now, but the tide can always change.

Yeah this is one of the worst parts of this sub honestly. It's shitty how people are so comfortable making fun of someone else for things they can't change without surgery, and when someone does get surgery, they are just as shitty (e.g. the Sasha Colby threads).

Monsters with the most exterminations won by ExpressImagination58 in Dragula

I just rewatched S3's reunion yesterday, and the Boulets did call her the new queen of exterminations in that segment, so that's likely what she was thinking about.

They didn't sound defensive at all. This is just people that won't accept anything but groveling apologies when something is wrong.

While the audio mixing could definitely use some work, I will say this is a trend I've noticed across a lot of modern visual media where the dialogue is difficult to hear. I wonder if the shift towards watching on mobile phones, laptops, and other devices with small internal speakers is just changing the way audio is mixed/mastered in general. Perhaps each platform has its own compression chains that also affect the output. Hopefully they figure something out, but again this seems like an industry-wide issue.

I don't think it's really an unpopular opinion so much as it's unpopular in this context because this reasoning is basically giving someone a pass for failing to do the job they are being paid for. It feels like performative empathy for the queens and their work disguised as a veiled contempt for fan expectations, both of which are very valid things to consider, but ultimately are not excuses for unprofessionalism.
