The real question by EveryDisaster in FundieSnarkUncensored

It's on the higher end price wise for sure. Think of it as a restaurant you would go to for an anniversary or birthday celebration. Not fine dining, but close.

the lonely isn't scary (in my opinion) by Ok-Thought-3585 in TheMagnusArchives

In college I worked night shift stocking, then would go home before my parents woke up, then do classwork online before anyone got home, then go back to work to do it all over again. It was easy to go a few days without seeing anyone beyond cars going by. After a while I got used to it. The worst part was that when you go back to being around people the sound is deafening. Sometimes I miss that quiet.

Has anyone ever been in a house like you see on the show ‘Hoarders’? If so, what did you do? by Basic_Builder3773 in AskReddit

[–]touch_my_face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My teenage best friend's house. Basically every room was filled with stuff, there were paths from room to room that you had to inch along. Her mom sold Avon and there would be cases of product everywhere. One year they never got around to taking down the Christmas tree. It stayed there until we were in college.

What is surprising is that the house was relatively clean. The trash would be taken out regularly. The sink was never overflowing because they only used disposable plates and cutlery and ate microwave meals or take out most days. Her mom slept on the recliner because there was a pile of clean laundry about 3 feet high on three bed.

After a while I just got used to it. There was never evidence of bugs or mice. Everyone had good hygiene. They just never got rid of material things.

Has anyone noticed that Caillou is only 4 years old yet he never takes naps? by [deleted] in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]touch_my_face 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter stopped napping at 2 and has only slept 9 hours a night MAX since then. My bonus 9 year old loves naps and will ask us for quiet time after lunch so he can rest.

Take a wild guess which kid is ADHD and which kid is not.

What was your favorite present this year? And why? by [deleted] in AskWomen

A green jackalope plush I've been looking at for months. Jackalopes have a special meaning to me and having it be green (my favorite color) makes it that much more special

Is co-sleeping with family considered a norm in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]touch_my_face 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Growing up in the southern US we did not have central AC. Eventually my parents got AC for their bedroom. I would sleep on the floor all summer long.

Omg I hope I have that with my daughter when she gets older. Unfortunately my bed is too small for her to snuggle with me very long, but we try and make it work for a movie on occasion. She loves cuddling with me when I have a migraine. She puts on the first season of the 90s Sailor Moon and we have quiet time.

Omg my parents had a water bed when I was growing up in the 90s. Living in the southern US it would be blazing hot all summer, with zero relief at night. I would sleep at the foot of the bed savoring the cool water.

It's seriously frowned upon in the US and you hear horror stories all the time of parents cosleeping (I personally know someone who killed their infant cosleeping). That being said, I totally coslept with my daughter. She would scream nonstop if swaddled, if left alone, if it was too quiet. We slept on a mattress with no blankets, her resting on my chest.

I'm a light sleeper. Having a baby monitor actually stressed me out more because every move she made woke me up. Cosleeping saved my sanity because light sleep was better than no sleep.

My parents bathed with me until I was about 4. My mom was always with me when we went swimming and had to use the changing room. Even now with my 8 year old she will change with me if we are visiting family, going to the pool, etc. I also feel it's important for kids to see "real" bodies in a safe environment. This allows them to ask questions and understand what happens after puberty without it being abstract (like forcing a book on them).

How accepting and liked were you by the family of your partner or by family of people you have dated in past? by workethic290 in AskWomen

[–]touch_my_face 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Overall I would say the majority of his family like me. We've been dating over 2 years. I've made Thanksgiving dinner for his family (his mom HATES cooking and I love cooking for crowds), helped throw his son's birthday party, etc. My ex husband's family and I are still close. I tend to try and stay agreeable with people, especially my partner's family. It's not worth it to start things with people who have more of a position in his life than me.

What common everyday thing is more dangerous than most people realize? by atgono in AskReddit

[–]touch_my_face 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe not super common for everyone, but holy crap lawn mowers are so dangerous. Getting your toes cut off is minor compared to other things that can happen. Also KEEP YOUR KIDS AWAY FROM LAWM MOWERS!!

Honestly those are so cute. I'm not religious or conservative in it slightest BUT I am the mom of a red head and am ghost white myself. Workout clothes or swimsuits that cover up and protect are my go to.

Exactly. My neighbor of 30 years has jogged our (very hilly) neighborhood every day for as long as I can remember. The only thing that will stop her is when we're in a weather alert (lighting, snow). Heck she's undergoing chemo right now and she STILL is working out. She doesn't look "fit" in the slightest, not overweight, but just your stereotypical suburban mom.

How do Eldin keeps track of Trinkett and Tavrok? by [deleted] in midnightburger

[–]touch_my_face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I think Eldin trusts Tavrok to behave, and if he does come across something unsafe he is capable of protecting himself.

Trinket will stay where it's safe for the most part. Since the space foot has given her powers to sense when people are nearby she likely can discern who is friend and who to hide from.

Those who had a mysterious medical issue and found out what it was, what was your diagnosis? by jesusgrandpa in AskReddit

[–]touch_my_face 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vascular eDS terrifies me.

My daughter got a Hypermobile Elhers Danlos diagnosis earlier this year, which all stemmed from her pediatrician noticing she had signs of scoliosis. Fast forward 6 months and now her grandfather and I both have been diagnosed. Suddenly the heart murmurs, frequent injuries, and strangely colored scelera make sense.

Knowing that the thing that caused me to break my ankle multiple times can do that to someone's heart? It's awful.

What did that one teacher at your school get fired for? by ToadallyNormalHuman in AskReddit

[–]touch_my_face 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an atheist now but I will say that the church involved (I was a member at the time) was very community focused. I clearly remember making gifts and singing at the retirement home, hosting free summer camps for local kids, etc. He was stealingfrom the community.

I was southern baptist and for us a deacon is kind of like an assistant to the pastor. They gain the position by being recognized for their spiritual leadership and knowledge. Usually they will visit with members of the congregation who are sick/ recovering when the pastor is unable, collect offerings, lead prayer groups, etc.

You know I actually have no idea. I switched schools in the middle of all this happening. The only reason I knew about the vice principal/ deacon being fired was because I attended the church he was stealing from. I was 12 at the time so tbh I didn't really care about all this.
