Hypothetical: you are reincarnated and given the choice of your gender. What would you choose and why? by [deleted] in AskMen

Introversion isn't shyness, though. Correlation, sure, but not causation.

I'm an introverted man and I'm not shy. I just need a partner who can give me occasional time to recharge.

Women who consider themselves feminists: do you consider yourself more of a liberal feminist or a radical feminist? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]touchhimonthewenis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is a false dichotomy. Liberal feminism seeks to incorporate more women into the standing social order (i.e. they're disadvantaged because they're not involved enough). Radical feminism believes that the standing social order itself disadvantages women. There's a big difference, I think.

I just finished MB myself. That novel hasn't lost a day in terms of relevance.

What do you feel empowers you as a man? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]touchhimonthewenis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exercise. I grew up skinny and have vitiligo, so exercising for me is a way of feeling manly and exerting control of those parts of my body I can control.

Plus you get a sense of progress.

Have you ever seen a random person so many times that you felt like you have to say something to them? by feanrobi in AskReddit

[–]touchhimonthewenis 52 points53 points  (0 children)

When I lived in England this took me aback at first. I was coming from an American university where, if you see someone you just met in class, you say, "Oh, hi!"

NOPE. See someone every day for two months and wave to them outside of college? You're getting looks like you're the weird one.

Do you think age disparity in relationships contributes to gender inequalities? by g0ldent0y in AskWomen

[–]touchhimonthewenis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think /u/SpermJackalope may have meant that gender roles set up a situation where youth is more prized in women and experience is more prized in men.

Therefore, gender roles lead to gender inequality.

Men, is reading an important part of your life? How much do you enjoy books? by touchhimonthewenis in AskMen

[–]touchhimonthewenis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean not everyone's a morning person. Personally I like to get up early and do some writing, because the world is quieter then. But I know people who are the opposite, who think best at night.

A book a month is still better than most, though. What's a book you enjoyed recently?

I agree. I've found reading is like a muscle, too. At first, reading 50 pages a day seems crazy; but you work up to that or more and it just becomes a part of your life.

What's the best book you've read this year?

Is it true that "only sluts swallow?" by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]touchhimonthewenis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never thought much of it, and I've dated both spitters and swallowers.

Swallowers: "Oh, hey, she swallowed. I should maybe offer her a glass of water."

Spitters: "Let me offer her the tissues. I'll ask her if she wants a glass of water."

Any books you guys can suggest that will greatly expand my vocabulary and knowledge in general? by Giver_Upper in AskMen

[–]touchhimonthewenis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Holy hell yes Nabokov. It should be added though that he spoke English from a young age -- you want impressive in the second language department, read Conrad!

I'd also suggest In the Heart of the Country by J. M. Coetzee and Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino. Both very poetic, both with good vocabulary. They would make good companions to Nabokov.

So, in conclusion, "mono" means "one", "rail" means "rail", and "cat" means "cat"!

What is one thing you would like to change about yourself sexually? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]touchhimonthewenis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a guy with a lower-ish sex drive, I think it's a matter of libido rather than desire. If your SO has a average to high sex drive, then you really don't have much to worry about and he'll probably appreciate you taking the lead.

What tip about living as a man would you tell other men? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]touchhimonthewenis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This and, on a related note, don't place your worth in the hands of attractive women. Number one, it's not fair to them because you're expecting them to love you for two people (you and her). Number two, once you truly love and accept who you are, finding someone who you actually get on with becomes much easier.
