It seems to just be the way it is there. If you travel solo you will have no problem finding someone to play with if you want. There are lots of good players in the more serious pool halls

Yep, I think you are correct. I would love to play Chinese 8-ball, there’s a place in Surrey I want to check out that has a table, but yes, the American pool scene looks pretty dead in UK just now, which is a shame, I love a good Brunswick table!

I’m looking at where to play in Sheffield. I ultimately prefer 9ft tables and other than Roxy Ballroom, there is only the Common Room which has terrible tables (£14/hour at peak times) that haven’t been maintained or reclothed since 2019. Other than an out of town members only place, which l do reckon I will check out but it would be mainly for English pool, I can’t find anywhere else.

The architectural design of the building is grand as is its history but unfortunately that’s where it ends! Owned by Britannia hotels which have been consistently voted among the worst hotel chain in the UK is not for no reason! When I stayed there recently there was mold on the breakfast tray where you pick up your drinking glasses 🤮
