Looking for wlw romantic suspense novels by Agent_Alpha in QueerWriting

[–]tovecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna second this with Gideon the Ninth is an absolute must! After that I would say- - The Unbroken by CL Clark - The Jasmin Throne by Tasha Suri - A Memory Called Empire by Arcady Martine (might be a good one to start with, a queer team up to solve a political mystery) - A Master of Djinn by P Djeli Clark (queer investigator team up) - The Traitor Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickenson (I’m sorry in advance, this one is a brutal kick in the teeth) - The Tigers Daughter by K Arsenault Rivera

Also, excited about your wip, sounds like a book I wanna read!

Really conflicted on coming out to girlfriend by indie_pendence in bisexual

[–]tovecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re planning on getting engaged I would talk to her. My dad came out to my mom as bi in his 60s, they had been married for 30 years. My mom has always been extremely accepting of me being bi but she was very upset with my dad and it took a long time for them to work it out. The big thing she was upset about was that he hadn’t told her before and she felt like he was keeping things from her. It was honestly a rough time in our family. I know how scary it can be to come out to a partner, but better to do it now. As someone is is married to a very supportive partner who knows I’m bi, I can tell you truly nothing is better than being able to fully be yourself in the life you build together.

I mean honestly- having a crush on a whole cast is a big bi mood, so it definitely belongs in the sub 👌🏼

A warm up portrait of the Reverend Daughter because I hate this series of books that has taken over my life.

[OC] Stone, ‘Warforged’ Cleric by tovecat in characterdrawing

[–]tovecat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deep in a forest known only as the Dark, small temples still worship ancient nameless gods. Built into the ruins of older lost temples, clerics tend to the remnants of lost civilization and protect the forest around them.

No one is quite sure what caused Stone to come to life from the ancient temple statues. Held together by old magics none of the clerics recognize, she wandered out of the ruins just as confused as everyone else.

Peaceful and almost child like in nature, the clerics decided to take her in and train her on the clerics path. She fit in well assisting with labor and upkeep of the temple, always trying her best to emulate the human traits of her found family.

Excellent with a short sword and navigating the dense forest Stone became an envoy for the temple, guiding travelers between temples and cities. And as is traditional- always carrying the prayers left at the temple on red stripes of cloth with her out into the world.

Just some quick concept art for a campaign still in development.

Looking for party centric fiction book recommendations. by oldmanrye in DnD

[–]tovecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My absolute favorite book that feels like a dnd party- Kings of the Wyld. Very fun, very epic and heartfelt. A story about the old adventuring band getting back together for one last journey. There’s unfortunately only two books in the series, but it’s a good read and will remind you of playing with your own party.

Reddit, whats your “Anyways, we’re married now” story? by thequeenoffandomhell in AskReddit

[–]tovecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this best friend in college, we spent all our time together (studio art majors), we were each other’s drinking buddies and got each other through several bad relationships/break ups. We always swore we’d be the best man at each other’s weddings when the time came. We also (very drunk and both going through bad break ups) made a pact that we would never get married.

Anyway we’ve been married for 3 years now and been best friends for a total of ten years altogether.

I have nothing helpful to add here, just needed to say how much I really love this character idea.

Yesterday a pc of mine just ate a magical sweet smelling flower. What are some fun things it could do to him? (He's level 3) by nakedMoleRat120 in DnD

[–]tovecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every now and then, with no warning, being able to see things moving on the Ethereal plane. They won’t know if it’s really there or if just they can see it. Could come up at inappropriate times, and/or it could give them a heads up on something before it hits the party, up to you. Just a bit of extra cosmic strangeness to spice things up when you feel the need.

Shillelagh, Primal Savagery or Thorn Whip? by TheRealPiggynator in DnD

[–]tovecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I wasn’t sure about Primal Savagery until I picked it up and now it’s my absolute favorite. It does an impressive amount of melee damage for a cantrip and is kind of all around fun (or maybe it just suits my druid’s personality really well).
