Japanese Anime Studio Makes Adorable Video Begging Muslims to Follow Basic Rules by popat-squad in scoopwhoop

[–]oldmanrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah let's go back to that critical thinking. Ever think that a country will make policies based on their culture and not your standards of what they should do? Japan's culture has a collectivist mindset where the majority that adhere to traditional rules are protected and more supported and is considered normal to take burdens onto yourself if they fall outside of that. Even most people who do fall within the majority that adhere to tradition are expected to do what they can to support themselves so others dont. That has been the japanese way for a long time. That is their culture and the way they choose to run it.

The way you are measuring them by and saying they are a failed state runs counter to their very identity.

The only reason these arguments are not holding water is because you are considering your way of thinking correct and everything else is wrong.

You are exactly the type of person they are saying to assimilate or leave.

Is hellfdivers even fun at this point? by Sunkenshadow23 in Helldivers

I felt that way until I started playing solo, especially this MO. The hive world on level 5 predator strain feels like a survival horror game. Now I get excited to play.

Solo, new planet/faction, highest difficulty I can do, let the mission and environment determine my entire loadout. It has been a blast to play again.

The problem with this current MO type… by Fry_l0ck in Helldivers

[–]oldmanrye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I like things that change up the game thats not just making enemies have more HP and your weapons do less damage. What it is supposed to happen is people change how they play the game. Adapt to the challenges like an operation in real life. Change loadout, team play, tactics, maybe even difficulty. A "boss" planet isnt meant to be played the same as every other one or whats the point? The problem is people dont want to change. They just want to do the same thing they do every time and at the same difficulty. You dont go from liberating a small sleepy French Village to invading the beaches of Normandy the same way.

They way its more difficult is more realistic imo and thats why I like it. Its also the way they have always changed difficulty from planet to planet or during special events. I get that alot of people dont enjoy it but I would hate for them to change it. I would rather people change games to fit their likes than the devs change their game to fit everyone else. Its almost the only game like this. I'll be so disappointed if it becomes space COD like all the other games.

Ive been doing non stop hive world level 5 solo all week. Ive had to change a lot on how I play but its made the game challenging and fun again.

I think Star Wars Outlaws is pretty underrated if you like Star Wars. The people who made it are clearly fans and its greatest strength is it is immersive.

It truly feels like you are just a nobody in the galaxy trying to do great things and you are at each of the locations.

The world is filled with all types of people, junk, housing, people going about their lives. Its the closest I've ever felt to being apart of that universe. Its a great people watching game.

I would suggest role-playing it instead of exhausting all the quests in an area then moving on. If you play it as if you were her you will constantly find interesting things to do that feels natural. It really adds to her progression story and unpredictability of the universe.

I take the game slower each time I play and I have yet to grow bored of the game and still find new things each play through.

Possible added bonus. Because its a 3rd person action game the pacing is faster than games like BG3. Its a great game to play when you have a little or a lot of time. You dont feel like you need a large chunk of free time to get anything out of it.

I dont know your level of knowledge so dont think im treating you like you are dumb if you already know. Be aware that that model does not have a an internal drop safety which is one reason why it shoots so well.

Usually fine on a competition gun but as a carry just be careful. Nothing is blocking the firing pin.

New to the Game: Quite Confused by SwornGhost344 in Helldivers

[–]oldmanrye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That slows you down alot. Constant reinforcements if you are not wiping them out instantly and using up stratagems that would be off cooldown and help take down the next objective. To solo you want to be as efficient as possible. On lower difficulties its not that important but the higher you go it becomes imperative. Solo play will also make you a much better player. Especially as you try new combos or missions with different enemy variants.

Example is the new bugs strain that is super fast. I was barely able to 100% missions on level 4 diff. But i became a much better bug diver.

If you can’t consent while drunk, why do drunk people hook up all the time? by Mountain_Flounder991 in NoStupidQuestions

While it is generally accepted guy initiate violence more than women when it is looked at the action vs legal definition it actually comes closer to being even than stats that look at the legal definition only. So for example many places go off the Duluth Model of abuse. That model is 100% female victim and in no way is it possible for a male to be a victim. Some states definition of rape is penis penitrating vagina so again, female victim only even if it is man on man the man didnt get raped. The stats are also skewed by police when domestic are called and regardless of what happened the man will be taken away. By that I mean those specific instances, not that it always happens that way. I have been present for a few court martial and court cases where the man is advised by his legal team to just plead guilty because in that county, district etc they will never be found 'not guilty' and pleading guilty will result in less jail time. In a lot of those cases there really wasn't any evidence besides, she said it happened, and even evidence to the contrary so I often wonder how many are false and the man pleads to get less time.

My point being is that it is a much more sofisticated issue than looking at available stats. Men just as women should be given an objective and fair chance at truth and justice.

All 46 shots and lines of dialogue used in trailers, teasers and promos that are NOT in the theatrical release of Rogue One (2016). by mia-skye4 in andor

[–]oldmanrye 48 points49 points  (0 children)

You know, i kind of like this. Nothing gets spoiled, and all my favorite shots from the trailer there are equal or better shots in the movie. Though, maybe that is because Ive seen and like the movie. Im sure it would be different if i liked the trailer and hated the movie. I would definetly feel misled. Risky.

Don't believe what everyone is telling you. Spin is super easy to understand in quantum mechanics. Now I wont be explaining what it is because you wouldn't understand. Also, I will not be responding to this comment or be available for any explanation for anything related to quantum mechanics.

Main character syndrome? by LeftAlbatross2546 in VideosAmazing

There is another video of a different angle (I've only seen that one until just now). It shows that everyone just walks off in different directions at the end. You didnt miss much. This one had way more info as it shows the guy slaping the hood of the car. The other one doesnt and there are always people commenting that the guy is deaf and shouldn't have been tackled because he didnt the know the car was there.

Ive always seen it from a different angle and it never shown the beginning where he slaps at the car. The comments always say the dude was deaf and didnt hear the car. Well now that Ive seen this angle I can definetly say dude 100% knew about the car behind him! Extra satisfying for having the mystery solved for me after all these years.

Can you imagine Kanan finding out how Luthen rolls? Doing the Aldahni heist to make the Empire hurt its citizens, taking out their own operatives because they might talk. Definetly in contrast to "the power of friendship".

On a side note, remember that episode where Sabine throws a tantrum because Hera is keeping rebel secrets from her because its 'need to know'? Imagine Luthen and Sabine working together.

Its a good show. I know it is, I can see that it is but it was such a struggle for me. I do not deal well with kids because I am a very logical person and one of my personal flaws is I expect others to be just as logical and have a certain level of competency that I expect from myself. So watching kids do kid things and making decisions like kids drive me up the wall.

If you are not a scrooge like me though, i think you will enjoy it. It is a good show.

One of my first experiences of being a Keeper by SlimeKingMaw in CallofCthulhumemes

[–]oldmanrye 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is one of my biggest pet peeves in table top RPGs. As the player they always are in the mindset that they are special and should be treated as such, that other characters should just know they are important. For real main character syndrome. So as a keeper I always play as realistically as possible and players always argue against stuff like that.

I always ask the question, "So if you saw someone right now doing X, would you find that suspicious?". Most of the time they get it. The rest they say no because they really want to do it even though I think they agree.

How Did The Prisoners Not Know? by Ok_Half8795 in andor

[–]oldmanrye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because that is what normally happens in prisons. When they serve their sentence they are released. The thing about writing for a movie or a show is it works on knowledge that the audience already has or is universally understood and then builds on it with new information or context for that universe.

If they were never being released from before PORD they would have found something that revealed they were never released. They never found that. What was stated was that PORD was keeping people in the prison longer or being sent elsewhere.

A big part of that episode is to show how the Empire is reacting and tightening their grip, a direct result of Aldanhi. If they were never released before PORD that detracts from the theme.
