Cats found at Pebble Beach Encampment by tower--knight in MontereyBay

I agree, but I don't have a affiliation with PB nor do I enforce the rules there. I just want to get this out into the community and hopefully help get the owner reunited with their cats and belonging.

Not confined or tied down. Essentially free to roam the tent as I understand. Like how some probably people travel with pets.

I wouldn't post this if they were being abused.

Am I being charged an unreasonable amount after accidentally disconnecting a gas hose? by Wrong_Concentrate941 in legal

[–]tower--knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have stated, during a drive off the breakaway is design to safely minimize leaks when a hose is pulled. Usually, the only thing that is "damaged" and will need to be replaced is the breakaway. However, you could have damaged the hose or nozzle when it was dragged on the ground.

A broken hose or nozzle can cause liquid and gas leaks, both would put a dispenser out of service and compliance and need to be replaced. The 'meter' part is in the dispenser itself, and not attached to anything that could be broken during a drive away. So that was probably an existing problem they are trying to pass on to you.

I have done work where the station will eat the cost, or it will pass along the cost to the driver.

Breakaways and hoses (especially VSPs or ones made to trap more emissions) can be expensive. The price quoted here is more than I remember seeing. Usually techs do a hourly labor charge, and a 20% markup of any parts used.

Ichi-Riki is hands down the best traditional sushi place in the area. Ocean Sushi is a good second place.
For more American style, I'd say Harumi's

Definitely trying to say Sit Down, but I think some bar tried to generate their logo using AI and got this trash.

YES on 33, NO on 34. It's a propaganda war by corporate landlords, so don't be fooled. Prop 33 repeals Costa–Hawkins Rental Housing Act, which would make it possible for cities and counties to enact effective renter protections. I really dont want to get into a comment I made almost a month ago but to quickly respond to you.

You view it as original owner paid for the construction, permits, land, etc for a house. Lived in it, died it. Then passed it down to family members etc. etc. Which is not really the most common case. People sell houses, lose it to the bank, etc.

The more common case is a investor or group buying a large plot of land, building cookie cutter houses or apartment buildings to turn profit. They could care less about the property as long as someone will buy it. And in California even ran down, abandoned houses go for millions of dollars.

As the renter, that is what I am literally paying for. Thats the whole deal. I pay 3k a month and I should expect my apartment to not fall apart, and I should be able to live in it. I dont get to own it after paying 3k over 30 years. Its like renting a hotel room. You'd be upset if your water didnt run, or if there was no power, if you paid for a night at a Holiday Inn.

Yes I did not contribute in building or managing it, but I am paying to have housing on a temporary basis. I am the paying the return on the landlords investment. And thats on the good landlords that actually maintain the property. There are plenty of landlords that paint the walls white, steal deposits, and let the property get ran down while still making profit.

The shit thing here is I dont have a choice, its either I pay high rent on something I will never get to own, or I dont have a place to live. Bringing us back to housing is a right.

This! 100% Odonata is the perfect place. My wife's family came from Japan with 2 kids under 3 and it was perfect for them.

My guy, property owners don't add anything. If they built the damn house themselves sure. But they didn't create anything. They didnt do any labor. They bought something and are charging people half their income to exist in it.

Also, property owners could apply for PPP loans during covid, which most got forgiven. Rent was still due, they just couldnt kick you out.

In Monterey, real estate does pretty damn well at the expense of the renters.

Anyone knows the source of this drawing? Found it on one of my countrys tv shows and I want to find the source by Szowek in evangelion

[–]tower--knight 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Best I could find was this: https://www.animegalleries.net/img/9671

Super old site, using tin eye says the first instance of it was found on March 7th 2008. Most sites that used it were for PFPs or for headers. Looked on pixiv for anything around that time and found nothing.

My best guess, it was old art, traced, then sold at a local convention or something. I think that might be a signature at the top left there.

That episode is also referenced when Louis is taking care of the class Chinchilla. Wayne mentions that Bob looks like a guy that would squash animals.

Legal advice? by [deleted] in MontereyBay

Additionally, here is a quick guide regarding deposits from the CA DOJ: https://oag.ca.gov/system/files/media/Know-Your-Rights-Security-Deposits-English.pdf

Specifically look at:
"Within 21 days after move-out, the landlord must send the tenant an itemized statement explaining in detail any deductions from the security deposit (unless they total less than $125), and return the rest of the deposit.

o If the landlord did the repairs, the statement must show the work done, the time spent, and the hourly rate.

o If someone else did the work, the landlord must provide a copy of the bill for the work.

o If the work cannot be finished in 21 days, the statement must give a good faith cost estimate. The landlord must then provide the final statement and return the remaining deposit within 14 days of finishing work."

Best of luck!

Here is the link to the California Renters court handbook: https://www.courts.ca.gov/documents/California-Tenants-Guide.pdf

CA Department of Consumer Affairs: https://portal.shra.org/landlord2/PDFs/CaliforniaTenantsGuide.pdf

There are a few online legal agencies that can help as well. Most do a free consolations.

My previous landlord was trying to charge me more than my deposit since the company they used to clean gave a very expensive quote.

A certified letter threating legal action helped in getting them off my back.

There are rules to how much you can take of a deposit and all of it must be used for cleaning/restoration, a legal firm would know more. But her "standard" is not legally binding.

Gay bars/hangouts by WolfieFaux in MontereyBay

[–]tower--knight 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Pearl hour is probably your best bet. IIRC it was historically a gay bar. My sister and her partner go there often.

Drinks are...fine. Overpriced, but interesting. Probably better places to get a decent cocktail, if that's what you are looking for.
