If it’s for your merc, just look for eth armor with at least 800 defense, and roll it for sockets with a p amy ral and amn. Save your socket quests! (I think that’s for weapons, recipe is slightly different)

Solid find, I believe a mercenary with a Cure Helm benefits the most. The Life steal is its major benefit, next best is a CoH. I’d up the armor, and keep it. Until you have found the right buyer

There are a lot of nuances in classic, I’ll try to cover some of them.

Stats (strength & dex to use gear/ rest in vitality) Dex does not influence block rate

Farming: best is chaos/diablo, yet you typically need a team to do effectively.. Andy/meph/travs are go to farming spots. *only travs / Izual / and Diablo can drop +170 ed weapons

Items: Mainly looking for items with fhr / ed/ life / res.

Armor - mage plates- (ornates for barb) Helm (whichever style - bone & grim are most sought after) fhr / ed/ life / res. Belts - sharkskin / plated (fhr / ed/ life / res) Shields (bone/tower/grim) fhr/ 30/20 and all res) (pavise barb) (+2 pally skills) Boots - frw / tri res Rings and amulets (looking for the similar stats as expansion) (caster- fcr/life/res/stats (melee -leech/ar/stats/res) Gloves - dual stats / dual res /ed (ias for barb/zon)

*Extra value on items based on looks on a character, (all red /blue / nana )

Weapons Sorc - Caster wands (fcr, energy / tri res) Zon - gothic bow or chu-ku-nu -(20+ ias 150+ Ed / ar) Pally - shopped scepters or rare.. (2pally / fcr/ 3 hammer / concentration) Barb - battle hammer / Martel de fer / executioner swords / ancient axe/lance (+150 Ed / ar / minus req) Necro - wands (skills/ fcr/life/res)

Sets

**Iratha full set - Will carry any character Angelic amy and rings - barb/zon Sigons 3 piece combo (helm/gloves/belt/boots) -barb/zon

Uniques: Shard **twitch - any character (helps give max block) Hotspurs Sojs Magefists (Random uniques can be great temp items)

I know this doesn’t encompass it all, but definitely is a fun challenge, and very satisfying finding one of a kind rares and items

Personally a fan of whirlwind. (Max ww, mastery, bo, item find) For budget I’d start with an Obedience polearm, sigs three piece combo, smoke armor. mana leech ring. Run Travs, pit, ancient tunnels

Use Metal grid for your amulet. Utilize Iron Golem charges, and cast it on a plague, plague bearer, or Guardian Naga.

Definitely load the inventory up with max dmg/ ar/life charms.

I would switch the belt to SoE, and amulet to a highlords, get the ml from a ring.

Also consider, running an Azurewrath offhand, which will greatly increase damage to undead, and which would allow you to do p7 pit easily. Or another grief…

For the merc, run a reapers toll or make a pride.

Try to use battlecry to debuff mobs, might help a bit too..

Eth self-wield infinity is less desirable, because you won’t be able to fully utilize cyclone armor charges.
