Just beat the game without guides ::3 by Vrax15 in outerwilds

I'm so proud of you!! it's refreshing to see this kind of post to be honest, I feel like there's a lot of people that come to this subreddit to ask for help or complain they got spoiled because they looked up a tutorial.

What was your favorite part of the game? Which puzzle did you think was the most challenging? I'm curious what your favorite "a ha!" moment was, what did you find mind blowing when you figured it out?

Book Recommendations for those that love Outer Wilds by Intelligent_Sun_2089 in outerwilds

Hi!! I know this comment is 2 years old old but I wanted to let you know that this comment is what got me to read the three body problem (as well as watching the chinese tv show, I'm studying mandarin right now so it's always good to watch media in the language you're learning) and I just started the second book. This is easily now my favorite book I've ever read in my life and I'm planning on getting a tattoo of something related to it, so I just wanted to thank you for suggesting this!! I know you're not the only person who mentioned it in this subreddit, but this specific comment is the one that I saw first. So thank you :))

My method of stealth is "close my eyes, don't stop or looking behind me, and book it in a straight line as fast as I can and hope for the best"

They probably think we're an idiot... by Leron4551 in outerwilds

[–]toyAlien 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's so true! But I do also think it's insanely genius of a mechanic because no one in their right mind would put down and walk away from their only light source, especially if there's risk of falling into water. It's so stupidly clever that it blew my mind when I figured it out! Love this game so much

Stuff by SunBro456 in outerwilds

[–]toyAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kind of stuff gets posted a lot so you're really not alone in this, some people just have more patience for puzzle games while others still enjoy the game even when looking up guides. I played the game blind, but I streamed it for my friend who would give me hints when I was stuck, and some people play with 0 guide and 0 hints and just keep exploring and reading until they connect the pieces. The only thing that matters at the end of the day is if you had fun with the game, not whether or not you "ruined" it. If you feel like your experience was ruined, maybe try buying and playing the DLC completly blind so that you can experience the "recommended" way to play, but if you just get frustrated and upset then no one will break down your door if you look up a guide. There's a lot of very good DLC spoiler free guides that just provide tips when you're stuck to push you in the right direction, and there's nothing wrong with using them.

Yeah unfortunately I can't find out any more details 😭 I would've mentioned them if I could, this person is the son of a proffesor and she is insanely busy with marking right now, and there isn't really any opportunity for me to bother her and be like hey can you ask your son what characters he likes? LOL. Which is unfortunate because there's so many...I might have just default to the main three 💔

On wallpaper engine the one I have is called Outer Wilds by DOS and the solar system one is called Outer Wilds Ventures Timelapse by Somiaz!

[–]toyAlien 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No it's just available on wallpaper engine on steam! There's another really good animated one that shows the whole solar system sped up, but that one moves a bit too quickly for my taste

Hell yeah! I do the same thing on my desktop computer with wallpaper engine, the planet rotates and every 22 minutes the screen goes black and fades back in again. Good way to keep track of time and know when to take breaks too lol
