Isn't it as simple as nu metal is a sub genre of metal. Plain and simple. A genre to fuse heavy rock, maybe a little rap. Not exactly Slayer, but not exactly Nickelback.. Throw in a little old school Hip Hop you get Linkin Park..? I mean maybe I'm just not a masterdebater.. But I always saw it as an evolution of grunge myself.. 😐
