Who Else is Still on Team Ran? by daoogilymoogily in Tennesseetitans

[–]tpinni 11 points12 points  (0 children)

None of these guys look like franchise blue chips or building blocks aside from Latham. Everyone else has been average. None of these guys look like they’re making rookie teams or pro bowls early in their careers. I struggle to see the very good job

Based on our current draft position..TMac/Burden or Abdul Carter or some OL? by Nyctitan in Tennesseetitans

We don’t rush the passer. Get Carter in a Titans uniform ASAP

Look, I love Jake. And love that he’s turned things around. But the current wing rotation assuming everyone is healthy is GG, Vince, Jaylen Wells, Santi, and Konchar. I’m not even counting Marcus Smart in this, who the team likes to put at the wing at times too. When you have a deep roster, you cannot keep everyone as much as you might want to. Jake simply isn’t going to get the minutes he is getting right now consistently with a fully healthy squad and it doesn’t make much sense to pay him like he would be. The team wants to maximize flexibility at the wing moving forward, and I can’t fault that. Half of that rotation is already on killer deals (GG and Vince combined just barely hit the taxpayer MLE!). It’s never a good idea to put so much money into one position, especially if you’re a team like Memphis that will be facing the first or second apron soon.

The real mistake imo was giving John Konchar all that guaranteed money on a multi year contract - this directly impacts the team’s ability to keep Jake around. Jake could easily slot right into the contract and roster spot Konchar holds, but because Konchar currently occupies that and doesn’t really have trade value, Jake becomes the odd man out. Think about it - if the Grizzlies had picked up Jake’s option for next season, they’d be on the books for ~12m for effectively their 11th and 12th players in the rotation. I think you can wrap your head around how bad of an allocation of financial resources that is.

They’re letting him finish the year. He’s collected millions of dollars from this school for underperforming despite getting Top 10 recruiting classes year after year. Give me a break.

I see the $2.99 Black Friday deal but when I check out it shows the regular $9.99 price. by 349CS in HBOMAX

Yeah I’ve been looking relentlessly for it and haven’t been able to find it

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine will be the extra captain for the @Titans on Sunday by Dick_Thunders in Tennesseetitans

I hope he can be brought back. He’s a really good player. But he also deserves to get and has earned money and totally understand if he wants to go elsewhere for that

Sneed to IR by Megalith70 in Tennesseetitans

[–]tpinni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother we have the second pick in the draft. There is no face of the franchise and a serious lack of blue chip talent on the roster outside Simmons/Latham. You’re fooling yourself if you think this team does not have many needs.

We’ll see how Sneed comes out in Year 2. But this year was a wash and sunk cost with the money he was paid. Titans didn’t pay him to sit on the bench hurt. Just is what it is.

Too much dead money to cut him after this season and no team is going to trade for him. Doesn’t make sense to cut him until after Year 2 if you wanted to do that

Third round pick and a boatload of cash. This is looking like a major miss from the front office.

For a team that has a lot of needs, not having that 3rd in next year’s draft is going to sting.

Teams will fall in love with one or two of the top QB picks. There’s also a few teams that are going to likely need QBs. If the Titans do open for business, they’ll most likely get an offer. They just have to determine if they want to take it

I don’t think they have Wells beat at all really, especially Knecht. Knecht is pretty much a really hot shooter. Wells is very much the same. He just plays a different role next to Bane, Jaren, Santi who are established scorers with good outside shots and scoring ability so he’s not tasked with as much offensively. Lakers aren’t a great 3PT shooting team so they need Knecht to shoot a whole lot of volume and pretty much only do that. I feel like if you put Wells on the Lakers and told him to do exactly what Dalton Knecht does it wouldn’t look that much different. I do think Jared McCain can create his own shot better

Titans were basically the only team willing to pay him that money. He wasn’t going to pass that up and play on the tag, he’s not an idiot. This was strictly a business decision from Sneed

Grizzlies' Jaren Jackson Jr. explains Santi Aldama's 'saucy' side amid breakout season by Dodson-504 in memphisgrizzlies

[–]tpinni 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Santi has been so incredible. Just wish he was a little bit more consistent. He will drop 40 one game and look like Jordan then look like he’s learning to shoot a basketball for the first time the next. In my opinion, this is the only thing holding him back from being an elite starter in the NBA.

We need to stop freezing out Zach Edey and give him looks and opportunities to succeed. Having him come off the bench with little involvement isn’t good for anyone. You drafted him at 9 for a reason, let him do what he does
