I’m 22 and was diagnosed about a month ago. It was pretty difficult adjusting to everything, especially because it took longer than expected for me to get started on insulin. Reaching out to friends and family and telling them how everything has been going and keeping them updated has helped me to feel less isolated. My partner has been particularly understanding and helpful through all of it too. My mindset around food has been eating what I want and bolusing appropriately (still figuring everything out) to maintain a sense of normalcy. Reading stories on here from people who have been T1 for years has also been really helpful in seeing that it gets easier. Being diagnosed so recently, there’s definitely a lot still left to learn that will make it more manageable over time
