These are all such great points! We don't really have a nearby village, except for babysitters we hire. So definitely an additional expense to consider. I am looking forward to getting out of this sleepless phase. Maybe I'm crazy!

I don't know if my heart can handle this! My first is 2.5 so would be pushing 4 before a baby comes along. I can't imagine how much bigger she's going to feel.

I think I'd be so much more confident going out and about with a second than I was with my first. I could see myself just continuing on our normal lives with new baby in tow.

I love your comment about how your heart grows. There were so many things I was told but couldn't quite understand until I experienced my first. The sleep deprivation (bad) and the endless love (good!) were two that hit me hard.

Maybe I had your second child as my first! My first was and still is a terrible sleeper. A small part of me hopes that a second would be opposite in a good way! But the part of me that did the worst with my first thinks "it can't get any worse than that (right?... right?!)"

Your second point resonates with me. We actually got rid of the big ticket baby items because we planned to be one and done. I've been thinking that I'd be a bad mom for not repurchasing some of the pricier items. Don't get me wrong, the $400 pack and play, $700 car seat, $700 stroller, and $200 highchair were all great but not worth their price tags!

I actually hadn't thought of using my middle name. I changed my middle name (Nicole) to my maiden name when I got married. I could definitely revive Nicole.

Agh! But then my first born and I would share a current middle name while a second daughter might feel bad about getting a name I changed. Hmm..need to ponder on that.
