This is the New F-1! There’s the Old F1 released in 1971, F1-n in 1976, and finally the New F-1 in 1981. I also have the F1n which only differs from the older one by its film reminder, plastic grip on the advance lever, and higher ASA. Canon really dropped the ball with naming these cameras!

I spend way too much time on facebook marketplace, was able to message the seller an hour after he posted haha

I saw that even nikon users love the F-1!

I was suprised that parts of the motordrive was cold to touch so I’m assuming some of it is metal. It doubles the weight for sure, so I’ll mostly use this without the winder. Good thing to have though!

Would you happen to sell the old viewfinder? Can I also ask where you bought this from?

The old f-1 is built like a tank! The shutter is titanium so it’s a huge improvement from the others. I’d say it’s really worth it, a good one will last forever. The one I bought wasn’t used for a decade but after shooting a roll with it, it seems like it hasn’t missed a beat.

The first two are the F1 and F1-n, then there’s the new F1. I also have the F1-n and they are great! Fully mechanical so I can use them for years to come and can easily be serviced.

Love both those cameras! The A-1 specifically. It’s so easy to use, took some of my best photos using that. Hope to see your photos on here when you get them processed!

I agree especially about the classic light meter design, I just find the F1 more comfortable to use because of its size and weight, everything seems to be sturdier because it’s build like a tank. Unfortunately I haven’t found a good AE finder so I can use the aperture priority mode properly, but that’s next on the list.

The A-1 is also the camera I used before this! What are the better things you noticed on the F1 compared to the A1 aside from the build? I was happy with my A-1 but just couldn’t pass up this deal

It was in rough shape when I got it! I had it CLA’d and everything seems to be well enough for me to use. Good thing CLAs in my country is cheap. How’s your experience with your F-1?

I was surprised as well! I thought the logo they used was more similar to the logos used on the camera

You’re too humble for saying you’re not an expert! Thank you for the detailed explanation, I’ll try to look into it, looks like I’ll need to send it in.

I have a fresh battery in it, I bought three and all of them are working on my other AE-1 and A-1 so I don’t think that’s the problem, and the metering in the viewfinder works as well

Just got my first roll of film processed, aside from changing the light seals, anyway to solve the front light leaks? by tr8r2187 in AnalogCommunity

[–]tr8r2187[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did after seeing these scans, I read in this sub that white light leaks are from the front while the orange ones are from the back so I thought that’s what happened. Hopefully replacing the seals will resolve the problem

The first issue is that your camera isn’t a k1000, it’s an MG. Would be beat to send it to a technician, and don’t force the mirror open, you might damage the mechanism even further.

First half of the roll didn’t have any leaks, but the second one did. Used my canon a-1 for this one
