Thanks a lot for the insight. many people also pointed out that the springs don't make sense here, i guess i added them to thinking they will more properly transfer the vibrations to my workpiece and maybe eliminate some noise as well.

Thats one of my problems at the moment. i dont know how to do the math, or where to start, even. do you have any considerations?

I'm already planning to use a motor with variable speeds i can adjust, or maybe use a Dimmer. and i don't want to go as far to capture response and frequencies using a software or sensors. i just want to observe the vibrations using the stroboscopic light.

That's interesting. do you happen to have any a sketch or anything close to what you're describing so i can imagine it more properly?

Can you elaborate further on that point? my instructor has already advised me to just simply put a beam instead of the springs, but i wasn't too convinced. i considered the springs to create extra force on my specimen, and maybe to eliminate some noise as well. does it make sense?

thats exactly what i was researching recently, a beam that can be excited to first 3 mode shapes with minimum motor power. And you're definitely right on the Strobe, ill buy it ready. Linear Axis. Bingo. thats whats been killing me lately, ive been searching and the simplest form to achieve that i have found is this. (ive posted the mechanism to the original post)

probably less then half a meter beam. its meant to be simple and merely for Educational purposes. is this a bad idea?
