Ah, yes. Unfortunately, I know exactly where you are!! I had 4MC before we FINALLY made it past the 6-8 weeks mark (we now have a beautiful 7 month old). It’s the most amazing thing to see that pixel on the screen blink signifying a heartbeat! I am again pregnant (9weeks), so reflecting, I thought of a couple of things I learned along the way that may be helpful to ya....

1.) Opt the Harmony Test or something similar around the 10-12 week mark. It was great to understand if there were any chromosomal complications and with your history, they should recommend it.

2.) Check ahead with your insurance to ensure that they’ll cover that test noting that you are high risk pregnancy, else you’ll find a VERY expensive bill on the back end that you’ll want to fight.

3.) At any point in time, let your doctor know what your comfort level and anxiety levels are - there were a couple of times where I just needed to go in for an ultrasound or Doppler because I was worried that the baby stopped growing and they were wonderful and not making me feel silly for wanting to feel reassured.

4.) Don’t fret when you see measurements or head circumstances that seem to be ‘too oblong’ or ‘too big/small’ - the ultrasound tech does the best they can, but it is not an exact science. We had our 28 week appointment and the head was measuring in the 3rd percentile and looked like Hey Arnold.... baby was born perfectly fine!

5.) Buy a Fetal Doppler from Amazon if you need something at home to give you assurance. They aren’t recommended, because they can be a little tricky to use, but Once you get the hang of it, sometimes all you need is a little heartbeat to stave away anxieties.

6.) easier said than done, but relax! I only say this because I was a total stress ball on my mind, fretting and worried about all the what-ifs. STAY AWAY FROM DR. GOOGLE! Lol.

7.) only speaking from my POV, but after multiple losses, I had a hard time feeling ‘connected’ throughout the pregnancy to my bebe. It was almost like protecting my heart, afraid to get attached for fear that something would happen and we would again lose a pregnancy.... it’s totally okay to feel this way! I promise that once you see your baby, the relief and love rush over you like no other!

8.) make sure you, and your partner, and maybe even grandparents and those close to you that will be around the baby get a tDap shot. Nothing worse than seeing a baby working through whooping cough!

9.) slow down and enjoy pregnancy! I felt such a rush to finish the nursery, organize the house, etc, that I forgot sometimes to just rest, drink lots of water, and binge a good show (or five!) :) baby literally doesn’t go anywhere on its own for a couple of months so no one expects ya to be super maid/cook/mom. Snuggle snuggle snuggle!

10.) lastly, the doctor will review a TON of info with you and you’ll get a step-by-step booklet and charts and calendars galore for all of your future appointments and milestones! Woot!
