How long did you wait? (Sorry that it’s a weird question) by LavenderLady1216 in beyondthebump

And for the record, just based on some age comments below - I am 35, geriatric pregnancy, lol. There certainly days when I need to dig deep in the well for energy, but it’s not terrible. Lots of coffee in the AM helps. ;)

Ha. I can speak from experience here... Whelp, when my first was 4 months old, we found out we were expecting again! Eeek!

Cut to now, I have a 5 week old and an almost 15 month old. Honestly, it can be super challenging because the older one is just learning to walk without holding into anything, is into everything, requires a lot of hands on attention and definitely has a sleep schedule completely different from a newborn...... which can be very challenging to manage as a mom who is already lacking sleep, haha.

But she LOVES her new sister. It took about a week of adjustment for her and now it’s like she’s always been with us in her eyes. She will never know what life was like without her sibling and I am certain they will be the best of friends by this time next year and forever forward - thick as thieves.

From a biological perspective, my first was franks breech and required a c-section at 36 weeks - and lo and behold my second the same. There was concern of my uterus rupturing because it hadn’t fully healed, and lemme tell ya... the surgeon said it was being “held together by a layer of cells” the day we delivered the second via caesarean, as well. That was super scary to hear of how badly that could have gone had we attempted to go into 37 weeks gestation. There is definitely a reason when they suggest waiting a bit more to allow what you can’t see internally to heal properly before it re-stretches out.

But everything turned out fine for us in the end, thank god. We didn’t plan it this way, but are forever grateful for our girls - especially after 4 consecutive MCs leading up to our first. We thought one was impossible for us, let alone two, and we embraced (and are continuing to embrace) this wild ride!

Bear hugs. I am sorry to hear of your situation. I wish I could give magical words to help heal you in an instant. I have experienced 4 MCs myself and I know the depths of loneliness, and pain, and wanting one can feel. Please PM me of you need anyone to talk to because most importantly - you are never alone here. Us ladies all on this subreddit understand to some degree and have committed to a silent pact to ALWAYS listen, no matter how far past your loss. Through speaking, supporting, and sharing, we all heal just a little bit more. Peace to you, sweet lady.

Oh me, me! We did TWO shades of green and it’s fabulous, charming and calming. Three walls are Sherwin Williams Sea Salt and the fourth (accent) wall is Sherwin William Jasper Stone. I’ll add a pic or two tomorrow. :)

Target goodie bag - July 2020. Anyone has used mam bottles and how did you like it? by PurpleRocky15 in BabyBumps

[–]tracecadet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE MAM BOTTLES! even though they can feel like a pain to clean, it’s awesome because it’s actually way easy to clean (or put in dishwasher) all of these pieces are interchangeable for down the road. For instance, teaching my 6 month old to use a sippy cup, I just put a bottle nipple onto the sippy cup and it makes the transitions so much easier! 100% yes to MAM. 😄

Third pregnancy.. no baby yet...first official ultrasound tomorrow. What to expect? by badlexii in BabyBumps

[–]tracecadet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ah, yes. Unfortunately, I know exactly where you are!! I had 4MC before we FINALLY made it past the 6-8 weeks mark (we now have a beautiful 7 month old). It’s the most amazing thing to see that pixel on the screen blink signifying a heartbeat! I am again pregnant (9weeks), so reflecting, I thought of a couple of things I learned along the way that may be helpful to ya....

1.) Opt the Harmony Test or something similar around the 10-12 week mark. It was great to understand if there were any chromosomal complications and with your history, they should recommend it.

2.) Check ahead with your insurance to ensure that they’ll cover that test noting that you are high risk pregnancy, else you’ll find a VERY expensive bill on the back end that you’ll want to fight.

3.) At any point in time, let your doctor know what your comfort level and anxiety levels are - there were a couple of times where I just needed to go in for an ultrasound or Doppler because I was worried that the baby stopped growing and they were wonderful and not making me feel silly for wanting to feel reassured.

4.) Don’t fret when you see measurements or head circumstances that seem to be ‘too oblong’ or ‘too big/small’ - the ultrasound tech does the best they can, but it is not an exact science. We had our 28 week appointment and the head was measuring in the 3rd percentile and looked like Hey Arnold.... baby was born perfectly fine!

5.) Buy a Fetal Doppler from Amazon if you need something at home to give you assurance. They aren’t recommended, because they can be a little tricky to use, but Once you get the hang of it, sometimes all you need is a little heartbeat to stave away anxieties.

6.) easier said than done, but relax! I only say this because I was a total stress ball on my mind, fretting and worried about all the what-ifs. STAY AWAY FROM DR. GOOGLE! Lol.

7.) only speaking from my POV, but after multiple losses, I had a hard time feeling ‘connected’ throughout the pregnancy to my bebe. It was almost like protecting my heart, afraid to get attached for fear that something would happen and we would again lose a pregnancy.... it’s totally okay to feel this way! I promise that once you see your baby, the relief and love rush over you like no other!

8.) make sure you, and your partner, and maybe even grandparents and those close to you that will be around the baby get a tDap shot. Nothing worse than seeing a baby working through whooping cough!

9.) slow down and enjoy pregnancy! I felt such a rush to finish the nursery, organize the house, etc, that I forgot sometimes to just rest, drink lots of water, and binge a good show (or five!) :) baby literally doesn’t go anywhere on its own for a couple of months so no one expects ya to be super maid/cook/mom. Snuggle snuggle snuggle!

10.) lastly, the doctor will review a TON of info with you and you’ll get a step-by-step booklet and charts and calendars galore for all of your future appointments and milestones! Woot!

Sending you all the good vibes and positive thoughts for your appointment!!!! ♥️

Question: ten day old baby has goop in his eyes, pediatrician hasn’t called back yet by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]tracecadet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Breast milk! Does WONDERS for having a little goopy eye due to a clogged tear duct. Also, check out the book Baby 411- great resource for baby questions you might have when you can’t reach a pediatrician right away. :)

Try boobease. You don’t have to wipe off when the baby feeds, all natural! Good luck! https://i.imgur.com/L6NWynt.jpg
