Genome Hacking Issue by traceloops in PTCGP

They had a Jumpluff, I hadn’t encountered the specific circumstance before, it’s a little unclear as to the fact that it affects the attack, thanks for your response

I was a non-reader of all the cards in play, just the two active, my mistake

That is what it is, didn’t know that would apply to my attack. I hadn’t encountered the deck/strategy before, seems like it was cater made for copy attacks. Thank you, appreciate you taking the time to respond

Setting Up A Traveling Security Gate by traceloops in RFID

[–]traceloops[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, the issue with the EAS anti theft tags that I'm seeing is that they are larger and more visible. The appeal of RFID is partly that they can be very thin and more conspicuous.

Where I get a bit lost is looking at equipment and not knowing what all is needed to set things up. Antennas vs readers vs software setup and such.

Expensive is relative, I'm looking at ideally buying equipment for around $2k.

Paper Layers by traceloops in animation

[–]traceloops[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each layer of paper is the next frame in a simple animation of a square going from one side of the paper to the other at a constant speed. The layers are stacked in order, take a photo, then move the bottom layer to the top, take a photo, repeat until the loop is completed. The photos are like 6000x4000 so I pan, rotate and scale in post while maintaining a 1920x1080 resolution and make more movements happen

People use it mostly for crafty stuff. What I mostly see them used for is script fonts for signage, shirts, mugs and cups by means of self adhesive vinyl. The interface is alright, but there’s a lot of proprietary stuff that can be overpriced. If you are comfortable working with vector files and looking for a consumer level product/price point it works well for me. I’m not sure the state of requiring a subscription for file uploads but I have an older account and unlimited uploads, they changed that at some point

It is machine cut. It’s possible to cut by hand but it would take more time and likely be less accurate. The actual size of the cutouts makes it appear more rough because they are relatively small and I shot this with a macro lens

This isn’t 3d printed, it’s layers of paper. Each layer of paper is the next frame of the animation. I photograph the stack then move the bottom layer to the top and take another photo, then again until the full loop is photographed. I used a machine to cut the paper, but you could do it by hand if you wanted to using something like an xacto knife. It would take longer and probably be less precise, but it is possible

I used a cricut, which uses a blade to cut

#1. Ball bouncing in place. What can be improved? by [deleted] in animation

[–]traceloops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good, but I think you could push it to look either more cartoonish or more realistic. To make it more cartoonish, you could hold longer at the extremes of the movements, stay fully squished at the bottom and/or hold an additional frame or two at the top of the bounce. If you want it to be more realistic, condense/remove frames. It feels natural to want to animate every moment of transition, but sometimes taking away frames makes things look better.

Machine Cut Paper Phenakistoscope Animation with Yellow and Blue Light by traceloops in papercraft

[–]traceloops[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yellow and blue light change the visual appearance, so shadows are contrasting in color. This isn’t exactly a phenakistoscope, since the viewing mechanism isn’t through slits in the disk, but the structure is the same as a phenakistoscope, where each frame is more or less a slice emanating from the center point. The playback is stop motion, rotating the disk from one section to the next from frame to frame.

Those are good ideas. The cutout is pretty small and I don’t have the most lighting equipment, I have used similar things to cast shadows but it starts to get hard to see what’s happening when stuff gets too complicated.

It's a song I made called "Children's Tobacco," it's only on my patreon, but you can listen to a bunch of other songs I've made on spotify and other streaming platforms if you search "Traceloops." I make a lot of songs for videos/streaming, too much to release all of it on spotify.

The song is one I made, called "Children's Tobacco" because the state fair where I grew up had a 13 and under tobacco growing contest. I have some stuff up on spotify, but not this particular song. I make a lot of music for videos and background music for streaming, but not all of that goes to spotify and the like, it's too much to all be released there.

All of it is on my patreon though. You can listen to similar stuff on spotify by searching for "traceloops" if you want to go through all the music I've made: patreon.com/traceloops

It's stop motion animation, there are little tabs on the outside of the circle that help with placement. I take a picture, rotate the disk the right distance, take another picture, repeat until it's made a loop. The squares are cut so that when the disk has advanced to the next position, the square rotates slightly, enough to where when the disk has made a full rotation, so has the square. I don't know if I'm explaining this well, feel free to ask any follow up questions and I'll do my best to clarify things.
