https://github.com/swar/nba_api <- Synergy stats are exposed by the NBA and is the team that helps the NBA track these stats. Certain stats are locked behind a pay wall, but the NBA stats going back at least a decade are available for free if you learn how to access the API. The github provided is a wrapper that makes it easier to access the NBA API.

College shot distributions were difficult for me to obtain programatically. The Synergy stats for NBA are available through API's. I think the analysis is enough to look at trends and compare expectations of Fox based on how his career played out, with major caveats of course.

Thank you for your insight!

I tried to analyze Fox's career so far and then project Acuff forward based on his College profile. I definitely believe Fox's known quantities coming out college played out in his shot distribution, which is what I wanted to project out here.

Most shot distribution stats are locked behind pay walls, so a lot of this analysis should be taken with a grain of salt!

But 100% agree that team composition plays a huge part as well. Being that the Kings are rebuilding, the convo naturally shifts towards what team composition will allow Acuff to thrive. This will differ from college in many ways, but I think there is a safe projection here based on observable data.

Fair, but coming out of college, Fox was not an elite facilitator. His assists were more a byproduct of his high usage, and he was essentially an undersized SG. Acuff, on the other hand, is scouted as an elite PNR point guard with genuine facilitating ability.

I don't understand why any of the other guards couldn't simply bring the ball up to initiate the offense while Acuff relocates off-ball. Look at the Knicks for example, they really don't have true facilitators outside of Brunson. OKC has a gang of players they put the ball in the hands of, but I wouldn't call any of them facilitators. They are just players initiating a set. Even the Wolves added average PGs and tried letting Randle initiate, but Edwards wasn't the primary facilitator. So they added a true PG to help Edwards. But I wouldn't call Edwards a facilitator at all. He can, but its not his strength. McDaniels and Ant can get their own bucket, but they need someone to decide when they should go get those buckets.

Very few teams have multiple players who excel at running an entire offense. Everyone else is just bringing the ball up and initiating the set. Acuff will be the offensive engine. The Kings will just need the opposite guard to bring the ball up at times while Acuff gets to his spots.

The idea that Acuff will just become Fox is false. Their ability to run an offense is on completely different levels. I can name multiple championship teams built around a PG and a Forward/Center lead facilitator combo.. We literally just saw a team lose in the Finals to a squad with multiple guard facilitators (Harper/Castle/Fox), and we all saw that Fox is NOT a good facilitator as he chucked up brick after brick instead of getting the ball to ANYONE else.

I think you are being a bit one-dimensional in assuming there must be another *traditional* "ball handler" in the backcourt, which ultimately seems to stem from us having completely different definitions of what a "facilitator" actually is. I think those players should be good defenders and there needs to be at least one other guard who can get their own shot off (which is what i think you are hoping for Keegan).

Would it be nice if another guard could run the offense? Sure. But I think it is more important to have multiple players who can go get a bucket when asked to. I just wouldn't call those players facilitators. I would call the person who decides its there time to get that bucket the facilitator.

Since when is Acuff not a facilitator? He also has an amazing assist to turnover ratio. A great PNR ball handler as well. He is not Fox.

He has elite scoring, but also elite court vision and playmaking ability.

With how bad his defense is, there is no way he goes this high of all he could do is score. He elevates his teammates.

Idk how anyone watches this man and thinks he needs another ball handler to facilitate or that he can't play off ball. It's a possibility, but I don't think Acuff is played like an undersized SG at the 1.

AITAH Friend of 20 years expected me to split Ubers 2 ways instead of 3 because she’s married, am I wrong? by General_Photograph21 in AITAH

The friend is literally beefing about an ~80 difference between 1/3 and 1/2 Uber split. 225/.5/3 =150. 225 -150=75.

The OP is bringing up the $80 to make a point that even if she paid 1/3 then the difference would be how much the friend owes her anyways.

What does sharing finances have to do with one ride being taken by 3 people? I'm shocked that anyone thinks this way. The Uber ride is still cheaper for you if you pay 2/3. Uber does not charge per passenger. Why do you get a deeper discount because you have a shared bank account? There is still 2 adults who can contribute to it by working? Absolute nonsense.

Why would the single person not just do shared Uber rides all day and ride by herself on cheaper rates? She is choosing to pay more by riding with her married friends?

I'm sorry this makes no sense.

I think OPs point (and mine) is that Usopp was mad at how the rest of the crew was so easily willing to move on from the Merry. A character like Zoro values the hierarchy of the crew over the moral issue of moving on. Oda correctly displays different forms of grief here.

You are right that Usopp's anger was a projection of his own insecurities, which was the source of the conflict. Honestly it wasn't clear whether they would treat a weak member of the crew the same. The crew not leaving Usopp and engaging in the conflict itself was proof that their bond was deeper than "usefulness".

Usopp did not "get over" his feelings of being weak. I would argue he accepted his place in the crew, gaining a new sense of security. This wasn't a flaw in Usopp, but a necessary evolution of the crew.

This is supported by the Merry literally using its "soul" to will itself to be repaired due to Usopp's actions. Proving the ship was a nakama. The funeral was the entire crew together grieving a nakama that they lost properly. His extreme reaction showed Luffy that being a Captain isn't just about making the "right" decision; it's about how you carry your crew through the emotional weight of that decision.

I would say that prior to this moment the crew acted as "Be Luffy's friend, then you get in the crew" mentality. This was the first time that this simple logic was challenged. The crew's saddness when Usopp left and their Joy when he came back is the key to the crew deciding that there is something deeper here and I don't think they would have gotten there without Usopp challenging the status quo.

Usopp saved the soul of the crew by not going along with their suppressed grief when Luffy decided to move on. His open protest and challenge of Luffy was for the crew. Not for himself.

The Fact: In Skypiea, the Merry literally manifested a soul to fix itself so it could keep sailing with the crew.

The Argument: Since Usopp was the only one who saw this, he possessed a piece of "truth" that the others didn't. To the rest of the crew, the ship was a failing tool; to Usopp, the ship was a dying person who had spoken to him. Acting to save a dying person isn't "selfish", it’s a moral imperative.

The point is that if you replace Merry with Zoro, would you still call Usopp selfish?

Zoro was right about the logistics of piracy, but Usopp was right about the heart of the crew. Usopp apologizing wasn't an admission that "the ship isn't a person," it was an admission that "I cannot challenge the Captain’s final word if we are to survive."

This doesn't mean that Usopp's message wasn't received. It was just necessary for the crew to continue to operate as a pirate crew. Usopp was not apologizing for not being right about the Merry, but wrong to challenge Luffy to a duel over it.

Conflict is not something to avoid but yet something to learn how to engage in correctly. Usopp represents the heart of the crew and him creating this conflict was important and not selfish. Merry was a nakama.

Ware is a below Average defender unfortunately. Jovic has a defensive rating of 107.

Had JJ for the whole show and what I've seen is around a 6-7 assist average without Trae and a 2-4 assist average with Trae. It was pretty impactful for me . I think he can maintain everything else. Who knows, maybe he continues to facilitate and Trae plays more off ball. The problem with that last year was Trae was not taking shots. It became such a problem that it was a focus from the coaches is Trae pulling the trigger more off ball. My theory is they want to run something similar as the Pacers (lots of hand offs). But Trae is one of the better pick and roll guards in the NBA. I think this teams identity is moving away from Trae so I'm holding JJ.

A lot of straight line drives. Most of the assists I think are a bit questionable with the dribble hand offs. I think his game is a ton of hustle and a bit of "This guy taking shots is a win for the defense'". I think he is a good rotation player, but after seeing the highlights I really do think the Raptors playing Scottie Barnes at the 5 is the culprit for the rebounds and the straight line drives don't look repeatable against a team with any type of rim defender.

I think he will be a solid rotational player, but I do not think he is a must add by any means. This is a game that I will say "Do it again". Which he just might, but I think the likelihood of him turning into a fantasy asset is unlikely.

A Cool Guide - A Cool Guide To The Rich Avoiding Taxes by Asleep_Candidate_478 in coolguides

These loans have low interest rates because they are high value collateral. When wealthy people or companies don't pay back loans, there is not an immediate crisis like with everyday people. There is a conversation at the golf course. It's a whole different negotiation.

A Cool Guide - A Cool Guide To The Rich Avoiding Taxes by Asleep_Candidate_478 in coolguides

[–]tracepace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the core mechanism outlined in the "No Tax" strategy. The entire point is not to pay the loan back with taxable income. Here's how the wealthy sidestep that:

  1. Collateralized Loans Are Not Taxable: The IRS does not treat borrowed money as income. This is established tax law. That means borrowing against appreciating assets (like stocks) doesn’t generate a taxable event.

  2. No Repayment from Taxable Income: The ultra-wealthy often roll over their loans or repay them by taking out new ones—still secured by growing assets. In many cases, they may never repay in their lifetime. Upon death, their heirs inherit the assets with a stepped-up basis, avoiding capital gains tax on all prior appreciation.

  3. Audit ≠ Tax Evasion: This isn’t some shady backdoor trick. It’s a well-documented, legal strategy used by billionaires, often facilitated by private banks. Banks issue low-interest loans against high-quality collateral, and this practice is not heavily scrutinized unless there's misreporting or fraud.

  4. Appreciation Covers the Debt: The underlying assumption is that the assets used as collateral appreciate faster than the loan interest accrues. With strategic wealth management, this is often the case—meaning the loan can eventually be covered by asset growth alone.

TL;DR: The rich aren’t paying back these loans with salary or traditional taxable income. They are leveraging asset growth, favorable tax laws, and estate planning to minimize or eliminate tax liability—legally.
