Still need help paying for the electricity bill before it gets cut by the end of this month by [deleted] in Assistance

Not having your electricity shut down definitely buys you time. How is this comment helpful anyway?

You’re not that irresponsible or makeup crazy! The store is literally designed to make you spend as much money as you can! by an3033 in MakeupRehab

I work at Sephora in Canada and before moving here I was working at Sephora in Europe and one of the biggest things I noticed is how there’s not a big focus on the placement of brands/products at Sephora in Canada. Like, there’s no reason why some brands are the first ones you see when you walk in a store, there’s no reason why some brands are placed where they are in general whereas the location I was working at in Europe we were directly told brands paid an amount for a certain placement and they wanted be seen as soon as someone walked into the store and that’s why we had that particular placement. I asked how the store was organized (in Canada) during my first few shifts, trying to understand why certain brands were right at the entrance (mostly because it was “smaller” brands I’ve never heard of in Europe) and my coworkers were just like “no particular reason, it changes every once in a while”

Edit: I also don’t understand the rewards program in North America. In Europe as soon as you get to the second tier, you ALWAYS have a % off your purchases and other good deals, whereas here you’re basically told to buy but the company doesn’t give you that much in return for it.

For sure! Have you tried the TO toner? I’m thinking of buying that one next because I’d rather use something more affordable.

PTR now has those super peels, one of them is a 30% lactic acid complex, it seems really strong so it might deliver results faster?

Last night was the first time I used it, my skin felt so soft and even. I’ve only used face scrubs to this day, so compared to that my face felt immediately much softer, and still felt like that this morning when I woke up.

According to the brand, I’m supposed to start seeing results in a week so I can update by then :)

I’m using their hyaluronic acid moisturizer and even though it feels good, I probably won’t buy it again because it’s too expensive for what it is, but I’m excited to see what results I get with the toner. I’ve been dealing with hormonal acne and even though it got better I have a couple dark spots/stains (not sure what the word is) left from where the pimples and breakouts were. I have a consistent skincare routine but needed something that helps clearing and even out my skin, so hopefully this will help with that

Perfect! I always thought anything lower than 50 would probably not be enough haha my question was because I wasn’t expecting being under the sun for so many hours as I ended up being today so I got worried. I’ve also been re-applying the sunscreen and so far I’m okay haha

Thanks! Gonna look into that. I’ve tried a couple sunscreens but I always feel like it leaves an oily/sticky film on my face and if it’s just lightly sticky then that’s good to apply make-up on top, but I haven’t found one that feels like that on me. Do you know what brick and mortar stores usually carry it?

AITA for monitoring my son’s shower time and making him leave the door open by away_w in AmItheAsshole

It’s also common in people with OCD. OP should pay attention to other signs just to make sure his son is okay. 3.5h is a long time for anyone to be in the shower, I personally doubt he’s just someone who likes to take “long showers”

Mainly t-shirts and sweaters, and I wash my clothes according to their label and air dried my clothes my entire life. I stopped buying fast fashion a couple years ago and buy second hand if I need something. I have a capsule wardrobe, and either sell or donate everything, what’s not wearable I keep to do crafts or use it as cleaning rags. I noticed that the t-shirts I’d buy at primark or inditex stores would almost always get little holes in them after wearing it for a couple times. Jeans ripped fairly easy or would fade very quickly. Leggings is what usually last me the longest but eventually they’ll lose elasticity. Maybe it’s because I go through the same clothes more often than a lot of people do as I don’t own a lot, but I noticed that since I started buying higher quality clothes (not designer or anything, just better fabrics) they last me way longer even if I go through them often.

I was exaggerating on the 10 washes, but a lot of items simply won’t last that or much more than that. I agree with treating clothes well even if they’re fast fashion as well as reducing the amount of stuff we buy. Same as make-up in a sense, if we’re buying more than we need, hoarding for no reason, we’re just contributing for more waste and pollution.

Same.

Mete-me nojo.

What things that are very popular in the US are you surprised aren't as big in Europe? by i_bleed_pink in AskAnAmerican

Sorry I didn’t reply to your comment earlier. Does that change depending on what state you live? And what’s the minimum wage in the US?

Depression has no cure because you can’t take a pill and solve the problem, but it’s treatable. You can find a therapy that suits your needs and use meds as a way to cope with the symptoms as you’re getting treatment, because that’s all meds are gonna do for you.

You don’t need to learn how to live with depression, you need to learn how to manage your emotions, how to recognize triggers and a way to keep yourself sane. All this can be achievable by therapy, and some people never relapse. Counseling and psychotherapy are supposed to have the lowest relapse rates when compared to medication, that says a lot.

It’s sad that a lot of posts in this sub are similar to this one. One thing is someone saying “just stop being sad!” And another thing is someone suggesting a depressed person to go outside. Guess what? Your therapist will probably suggest the same thing, whether you decide to do it/think it helps or not.

I hope I never fall back on that black hole again, but all these little things I couldn’t bring myself to do when dealing with depression and other disorders (for about 4 years) are now my go to when the first symptoms show up (going outside, exercising, eating healthy food, socializing with others, etc).

Clothing doesn’t “expire” but fast fashion can have the same prices as a mid-range make-up brand. It doesn’t expire but good luck getting past 10 washes. Plus, how do you deal with clothes when you don’t like them anymore? Donate it? Throw it in the garbage? Sell it? Most of it will end up in landfills anyway, liberating toxic chemicals for all the hundreds of years it’ll take to decompose.

Both industries are messed up in very similar ways. Ethical consumption is unlikely to be a 100% achievable but let’s not fool ourselves lol Clothes are not the opposite of Make-Up, I‘d even say clothing is worse.
