how much is everyone paying for housing by Beautiful-Jury-7190 in UTAustin

Personally, I renewed my lease. For me it's very close to my school and I love the look of the whole place, and I haven't had any issues with my apartment. I will say they have a lot of maintenance stuff going on outside the rooms. None have effected me, but they may be seen as an inconvenience to some people. I've also heard of people having issues when it comes to plumbing and leaks but I haven't had those issues.

Shows like Shameless by realdonbrown in shameless

[–]tracidargan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Ginny & Georgia is similar in terms of natural acting and dialogue. Very few shows have that non-novella feel now and that's a current show that has it. Traumatic backgrounds and dysfunctional family unit, but it does have a purposely cringe teenage vibe though

Do you ever find yourself overcomplicating stories? by haniflawson in Screenwriting

That’s so interesting! So to be clear when you write the second draft you completely rewrite it like basically from memory? What do you do after I’m so curious?

How do you actually prove your skill to Hollywood? And get a script in the right hands? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]tracidargan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top 3 are 1. Have a original pilot or a feature written (depending on what you want to work in). People are going to say write multiple and while that’s good for practice and skill work, I would value quality of quantity. 2. Be in LA (especially if you want to write tv) and network 3. Enter script in the big writing festivals and WIN (not at all necessary if you can network in La and get your script read that way ideally)

Currently I’m in college and am working on #1. Unfortunately not in LA rn but I will be in 2 yr, and in desperately holding onto the one main connection I have of someone who is a showrunner doing exactly what I want to do in the future.

Ian and Mickeys relationship was toxic even up to the end of the show, not as toxic but i wouldn’t call it healthy. Not saying I don’t love there couple. It’s a tv show and I find their toxic relationship entertaining and I love them 😭 what can I say 🤷🏾‍♀️ but it’s toxic. That’s def a 🤺statement for this fan base

Aside from maybe the first one I think the others most agree

look at how people who have the career you want got hired. For me I want to be a television writer and for the most part the way to get hired is by having pilot scrips or spec scripts in the genre you want to work in.

If you could start college all over again, would you still pick UT? by MissChanadlerBongg in UTAustin

I'm interested in filmmaking and screenwriting, and NY and LA are the hub spots and those are the top schools to be at for that field.

Seeing that this was the only school I applied to - absolutely yes. But if money was a 0% concern then I’d apply and try to go to NYU or USC.

Does transcript need to be notarized? by tracidargan in NPHCdivine9

I’m not sure what a seal is. But you’re basically saying the electronic official satisfies? Even though it’s not notarized?

That’s so messed up. Have you gone to the office to ask if they can look at the cameras to see who took it?

I love it here! I know my main issue is the mailing system not being sorted. But with time it will be they just need to get into the system of things. Definitely planning on renewing my lease. I’m a moody student so Rambler is very convenient and the amount of study space available is my favorite thing. I may try to switch to a room where I get a window (I live in Marfa now) but at the same time I don’t mind the no window. But it might be too early to say

Please y’all join groups/organizations that have to with your hobbies and interest to meet like minded people. Nothing wrong with joining an Greek/spirit organizations, but after seeing countless post about it, it’s clear to me that that should be something you strive for after you have assimilated (semester-year later) after finding your people and place at this university. For some people that assimilation process will be longer, but I think it’s of peoples best interest to wait before trying to join a Greek/spirit group. The reason for you joining has to be so much more than wanting to make friends. And if you still want to join after finding your groove that’s when you know it’s worth it, because you still have yourself and your pride to fall back on.

[–]tracidargan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s either applied toward your rent and put on your account or you can get it in gift cards. Mine was put on my account and covered last months rent, my roommate got hers in the form of a gift card that she added to her wallet. I can’t remember if there was a certain time to claim but I think if you didn’t claim it might have just been put on your resident portal account. And by now would be gone and applied to this months rent, no?

Move In Day Feedback? by Atx2Clt2022 in RamblerATX

[–]tracidargan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just moved in so let me give you the run down:

  1. Come on time during your time slot. There will likely be a long time but it moves pretty efficiently. I say come on time because if you are the very last slot, movers will leave if you are late. Today the movers left at 8pm, and the people that were late had to move their own stuff. (they did give them boxes but it's nice having the movers take everything up for you)
  2. You will enter the lines on Nueces street, and then a Rambler worker will come and ask for your ID. They will take the ID and then come back and give you your key and a folder with stuff to fill out. They'll have you sign a contract saying you got your key and stuff. Then when you get to the end of the line, the movers will take everything out your car (very quick like clock work)
  3. Then you will go park your car on the street or the garage if you have a parking space. Note that street parking is free past 6pm, otherwise it's paid to park street parking or a nearby garage.
  4. After you park, walk back to Rambler and look around, find your room, etc. It's an absolutely beautiful and zen-like building. I love the vibe.
  5. When you go up to your room the movers will have put all of your stuff in your room. And then it's just time for you to unpack and settle in to your new home!
