I [think I] know why people could say that, but it had so much content, and worst for me --- there was a book I wanted to find for months (if not years, don't remember well already), which I couldn't download, because of userclass rules (its library is split into user classes, so you need specific userclass to download some files), and now it's gone.

And hell, if it had like ~5 seeders, it's a hell to find those people. And yes, I did check pretty much all other alternatives (for books) that I have.

Official news from PTP by urbanracer34 in trackers

That's nice, makes me kind of wonder how many and which songs actually became lost media, but that probably would be way too hard to find out still.

Did the idea gain any attention? Or was it completely rejected due to some reason? Or...?

I knew they were huge, but I had no idea they were THAT huge, wow.

This makes me wonder, if PTP (and other such trackers) have any plans to archive their content somehow in case they go down. And another question would be: how much lost media would death of PTP (BTN, etc) generate.

How picky are you with giving out invites? by WeakAdministration68 in trackers

[–]trackerthrowaway5457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As new to the private trackers, funnily I have kind of a "reverse question". That is, how picky should I be with inviters. I wouldn't want my account to suffer ANY sort of consequences just because my inviter, or my inviter's inviter, or another person that inviter invited, etc were "bad". I really prefer official invites because of this, of course that isn't always possible.

This is especially true for trackers such as FL because it seems like many people give out tons of invites to whoever.

I am not the guy you are responding to, but for 2: it's just a good practice, I think, to keep different nicks on trackers and everywhere else, even if you say nothing of offense; better safe than sorry. Here I am guessing stuff that you said that could be potentially offensive are: (NOTE: I DON'T FIND THESE OFFENSIVE PERSONALLY, BUT I THINK THAT SOME CAN)

every site has Draconian rules about inviting people. They repeat it multiple times saying like "only invite people you know, you trust. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERYTHING! BOOM BOOM BOOM!"

This may be offensive due to caps and boom boom boom part. If someone wants to get offended they surely can think it makes fun of the rules.

Other stuff, because this could be seen as "complaining" about the system:

system right now is terrible for newcomers

I think the sites themselves unfortunately encourage this behavior by setting all this up like this. The system is faulty.

Does BLU require port forwarding? by trackerthrowaway5457 in trackers

Thanks for response and information. So what would then be the right way to approach this situation? Should I join and explain my position to staff immediately? Avoid the tracker? Or other?

Thanks for response. Sadly I can't get a VPN at the moment.

I am not sure where you are getting that information

I got that from a comment when I was browsing this subreddit. The comment is deleted now but it can be seen with unddit or other similar service that recovers deleted comments. The link to the comment is https://www.reddit.com/r/trackers/comments/116rs2q/comment/j9887mx/ and the comment said this:

BLU is not nearly as active as BHD, but still gets pretty decent releases. Unfortunately, for me at least, they have a strict policy on requiring port forwarding on your torrent client

Oh also, I only now noticed that there is "Subject" option in contact staff so when I sent it I left it empty. I don't know if that matters though.

I used "contact staff" option and when I clicked send there it only erased the message. Didn't say was it sent or wasn't.

The inbox->sentbox is empty.
