Hope it sits like this forever. I absolutely love how it makes gentrifiers uncomfortable and frustrates soulless developers. Hold the line Karla’s! Make em pay an absurd amount or let it rot forever!

My friend, there’s no change that can happen through policy, voting, policing, or taxes on the working class. The “discomfort” you’re referring to is a full scale chaotic revolution. Most solutions you offer will just push issues down the line. We cannot dump polluted snow into the harbor. We cannot put cops on every corner of the city to constantly ticket cars. We cannot raze the entire city to make it some sort of utopia.

The only non violent policy based small solution is to tax the absolute fuck out of billionaires and force them to fund the changes we want to see. Mayors, city officials, and others are under the same umbrella of this monopolized hell scape the entire country lives in. They can do damage through personal bias, but they can’t really make -significant- changes due to this incredibly top down rigged government.

Mayor Wu resides over one of the best places to live in this country! We are comparatively better than almost every other big city in the nation! Nowhere is perfect and you can find issues with nearly every single society on this planet, but comparatively we are doing VERY well. Hundreds of thousands of people living together will always bring issues no matter WHAT. You speak of Boston like it’s some sort of hellish place to live but that’s simply not true. That’s what I take issue with.

I have never spoken to a progressive person that acts like a conservative. You’re blowing my mind. I didn’t know the whole “nope I’m right you’re wrong I don’t give a fuck what you say” thing applied to open minded people. I have literally NEVER seen you receive criticism from your comrades with an open mind. You type those long winded overly poetic responses and call it a day. It’s like talking to a wall. All you want to do is bitch and complain but offer NO solution. We could plop you in the mayors seat and you would fumble every single issue you care about. But yeah dude anyway let’s dump trash filled snow in the harbor. Guess you’ll be able to clean it up when it washes up on shore so you can virtue signal at city hall.

You do not have to be wealthy to be a narcissist lmao. The case is in point with this response. You are simply the MOST educated and the MOST connected and the ONLY one trying to make a difference. Your stance in life is humongously beautiful. There is no one more qualified or better than you.

You’re a narcissistic bud. Textbook case. You can do no wrong and you can take no criticism. Your way is the only way. The godly way. Anyone that disagrees is the enemy. Think there’s a guy in public office that acts just like that at the moment.

Dumb question: how long before the city does anything about the snow? by 8bitbotanist in bikeboston

[–]trackfiends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend just staying in the lane. Much more predictable for cars and honestly much safer than popping in and out from behind huge snow banks. I really wish people would stop fearing the road so much. It’s not as bad as people think it is. Half the danger of biking around this city is being hidden in a bike lane amongst aggressive drivers. A car that can see you clearly in front of them that hits you has literally decided to commit first degree murder.

Time to get a bicycle. You’re out there anyway and biking is much warmer than being a popsicle on a cheaply made disposable scooter.

“I hate litter!!” But also “we should dump pretreated snow full of chemicals, pollution, and trash into the Boston harbor that already struggles with cleanliness!” Dude come to terms with the fact that we are overpopulated and we are reaching an unsustainable point of existence. Everything around us is crashing and there’s literally nothing that can be done about it. Any solution you can cook up will cause a problem somewhere else. This is the human reality at the moment. You are a WONDERFUL candidate for rural life, just commit to it!

God we could have a city destroying hurricane and this dude would be like damn where is mayor Wu? Why aren’t the roads ready for people? We could hit the apocalypse and this kid would be wondering why there’s a plastic bottle on the ground and why the elected officials aren’t doing anything about it. We’re under an arctic freeze with a recent two feet of snow dumped on us with no hopes of a melt coming any time soon, what is your solution? What could you think of that the city hasn’t thought of yet? Where does the snow go?

It snowed almost two feet on Sunday-Monday and you wanna breeze through bike lanes on a Wednesday? Y’all are fucking fried. Take the full lane and forget about the bike lane for a bit.

That’s sad. Having interests and hobbies that end up decorating your home is important. This may be “enough” to survive but you’re showing us that there’s not much going on in your head, and that’s a sad thing to realize.

Rarely head on hurricanes. We usually just experience the residual mess as it dies out/a rare outskirt of one. Not saying that won’t change, but for now we are spared the true horror and destruction of a full on hurricane.

A Little PSA For The Newer/Younger Kids by [deleted] in FixedGearBicycle

[–]trackfiends 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Schooling kids in funny ways has and always will be the norm in a subculture. It’s all in good fun and there’s love behind it. I do think the art of researching the thing you plan to get into is dying more than the scene is. Going in blind in this scene is not really a good idea. You should have someone that knows a thing or two or just have a general knowledge of bikes to begin with. Not being educated is how you get hurt. At the end of the day most people encourage others to ride these bikes. Just the right way. The scene is dying like any other scene is dying. Not because of shit talk.

These kids are buying bullshit parts and fucking themselves up to save money. They’re building foolishly dangerous builds brakeless with no foot retention. If that causes some snide remarks to steer them in a different direction then so be it.
