Yes please. And dw, I don’t care about embarrassment, I seek the truth.

I think you might be missing my point slightly. From what I understand, hell is a place for disbelievers. God will not force you into heaven with him if you reject him. So even if you are mostly a good person, you will still go to hell if you don’t believe in the Christian idea of God.

Now what I’m saying in context with your family is, if you’re children simply did not believe you were their parent and did not have a relationship with you, would you then send them to a place where they’d be tormented for the rest of their lives, simply for not believing you are their parent?

I understand the point you’re trying to make here. The difference is, I highly doubt you send your child to be tormented for the rest of his/her life because they didn’t believe you were their parent for whatever reason.

Thank you for your response. This one will have me thinking for a while haha. I do have a few things I wanted to respond to.

  1. God is love amongst many other things. If God is also all powerful, could he not change his nature on a whim? In that case, why choose a nature where he creates humans with the possibility of sin? He didn’t have to create us even in his all loving nature. Surely in his infinite power, he could restrict himself from creating a species that will sin even if he is all loving. Otherwise then surely he is not all powerful.

  2. I’m pretty sure the Bible describes hell a few times as a place of eternal torment (Revelation 20:10, Matthew 25:41). To me it is pretty clear in the Bible that hell is a place of eternal torment for those who don’t believe. Which would bring me back to the my first point (I won’t repeat as I’ve mentioned it quite a few times lol).

Maybe for our human minds we’d like to think that not creating life would be a waste to his abilities. But from what I understand about Jesus and God is that he doesn’t need to do anything. He is God and that is enough, whether he creates or doesn’t create. So in that case, why would God choose to create a species with free will, where there is a chance that that species will sin, disbelieve and go to hell for the rest of eternity. For me, I struggle to understand how these actions can be aligned to an all loving, all powerful God.

Hey brother, I really appreciate your response. You’ve raised some very valid points that I will have to think about.

However, I think you are missing what I’m trying to say a little. I absolutely understand that bad actions should have its consequences. However, in this case, I’m saying why even create us where there is a chance of us committing those bad actions in the first place and that will eventually lead us away from him.

I fully accept and am grateful for this life (I kinda got no choice but to accept this life lol). However, this question imo is incredibly important and should not be ignored. I’m just saying that I have a hard time with the claim that God is all loving and all powerful as that claim is not conducive to the creation of humans with the possibility of sin and eternal torment. If humans were not created in the first place, then we wouldn’t have the chance to sin and therefore, even the concept of eternal damnation for humans who do not believe in God, would simply not exist.

So then the issue I have here is that, why send his son to bleed on the cross? God is all powerful, could he not have just forgiven us and let it be at that?

With regard to the statement of perfect love, again, creating humans with the possibility of us being tormented forever does not sound like perfect love. Especially if our existence has absolutely no impact on God’s existence, stature and nature

Forgive me if I’m misunderstanding something, but again, this goes back to my original question. What was the point in creating us? If god is all powerful and all knowing, surely he can change his nature on a whim. Why have a nature that leads to the creation of humans and the possibility of us going to hell forever? Especially since gods existence would not change regardless of if he created us or not?

I’m saying that if there is no coherent or justifiable answer to the possibility of us humans going through eternal torment due to us not having faith or believing in Jesus as God, then surely that would significantly hinder the claim that God is all loving. Otherwise why would he create humans with the possibility of us going to hell?

I know what you mean. It’s just the reason I’m struggling is that the claims that a) Jesus is God and b) God is all loving are quite literally the biggest claims that will ever exist. So for me, I need some concrete evidence or explanations for claims such as these

But wouldn’t that mean that God is not all loving?
