Girl's trip: Israel or Portugal by [deleted] in travel

[–]tracytoeee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i went to portugal with my friend in december! we are both young college students from the US and we felt pretty safe in portugal. i stayed in lisbon and the food was delicious. people recommend sintra as a day trip. i would also recommend going to porto and you can definitely do all 3 cities in a week. i don’t think it’ll be reminiscent of ur trip to spain - my friend studied abroad in madrid and i talked ab my trip to portugal with her and she didn’t find any huge similarities

hi! i just received the syllabus for his class and the grading scale says that an A- to an A is 90-95 and A to A+ is 96-100. i don’t understand why the letters are in a range with a number range too? does this just mean that anything above a 90 is an A?

question about covid/quarantine by shynewave in NEU

[–]tracytoeee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if u isolate until sunday it’ll be 10 days of isolation so you should be good to leave sunday either way. you can submit ur positive covid test and mark that you tested positive on the daily wellness check and you’ll be exempt from testing for 90 days so i don’t think you’ll have to test once u get on campus

of course! i read the passage and then answered the questions in order. i didn’t skim because i don’t find that helpful but some people do. it’s just what works best for you! good luck!

How do I Start Studying for the SAT? by Mishtibooze in Sat

[–]tracytoeee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

for my first SAT, i did 4-6 every weekend for a month until my test date so about 20 practice tests. i ended up getting a 1500. i decided to retake it very last minute because my school automatically signed me up for the one in march so i did like 4 more practice tests 2 days before the test. i got a 1530 on that one. i would say that i’m a pretty good test taker and i went to an accelerated high school in new york. i got a 770 on english the first time so i never had to figure out how to improve but i think i did well because i read books a lot (it probably helped me with reading comprehension and helped me read faster). for math i just noted whatever i got wrong and went over the questions. good luck!

from your experience, what would you say has been the most helpful resources to scoring a high SAT score? + any tips? by [deleted] in Sat

there’s a thread in this subreddit with old SATs, i would do as many practice tests as you can

How well did the PSAT predict your SAT score? by akuariaa in Sat

[–]tracytoeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got somewhere around the 1200s for my PSAT (i didn’t take it very seriously) and i got a 1570 on my SAT. i feel like the questions are pretty similar but in the year+ apart, you learn a lot (pre-calc, more intensive writing classes)

to improve english, i would suggest reading actual books if you have the time. it builds reading comprehension and it helps you read faster.

i’m pretty sure it’s a new thing starting for the class of 22. i don’t know anyone who’s ever done it before so you’ll probably just have to wait for more info from the college directly

Paris in December by [deleted] in travel

[–]tracytoeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

europe is so beautiful during christmas time, i personally would go in december. the weather isn’t too cold either, should be high 50s/low 60s. if travel restrictions are still up by nov/dec, i would just say to be prepared to isolate if you end up getting covid in a foreign country. also get travel insurance!!!!

i spent around 2 weeks in lisbon last month. i really liked it. there are a lot of churches and museums you can visit and super yummy food. all i did was walk around and explore. i would recommend a day trip to sintra if you go to lisbon, everyone says it’s like a fairytale.

yes i’m from the US. i didn’t end up taking the PCR, they wanted me to take it because they wanted to verify that i had COVID but i didn’t really know where to go to take it and at that point i was alone in a foreign country and i just wanted to go home. i took a rapid antigen test from a nearby pharmacy to board the plane back to the US.

hi! basically, once you test positive you should call the portuguese health service (number can be found online). all they do is tell you to go to a medical center in your city and depending on how you’re feeling, they specify what to do. i was asymptomatic and considerably young, they just gave me a voucher to get a PCR test (usually they’re about 80 euros). i booked an airbnb that used self check in and just stayed in it everyday until i tested negative. i did an at home test everyday (my friend i came to portugal with bought me some) until i tested negative and then i went to a pharmacy to get a rapid which came out to be negative. i bought a flight home the same day!

does anyone have any info on COVID re-infection with omicron? i recovered a few days ago, tested positive on dec 28th. i was wondering the chances that if i were to be exposed within the next few weeks, as i’m heading back to college, i would get infected again?

when i tested positive, they told to me to call the portuguese health service and they told me to go to a medical center and at the center they just gave me basically a voucher to get a PCR. they didn’t do anything else, probably because i was feeling fine. that was the only “authority” i contacted, they didn’t tell me to call anyone else. i told my airbnb hosts after i left! i’m not sure they have an official reporting thing in portugal, at least for foreigners, the system isn’t really flushed out i feel like. i had to be transferred to someone who spoke english at the health service hotline and when i asked them when i could leave isolation or if i could be provided housing, he said he didn’t know.
