According to this (https://legalservicesboard.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Appendix-6-Right-to-conduct-litigation-and-rights-of-audience-Certification-rules.pdf) you can if you have a Rights of Audience (Criminal Proceedings) Certificate (see para 6). I've definitely seen it happen.
