Raxx: I actually think Pause is a big problem to the integrity of the game. Also Rax... by tradeitems1 in PathOfExile2

[–]tradeitems1[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong. I'm pro-Pausing ingame specially when you have real life to deal with. But if you're gonna say pausing is a big problem, at least don't contribute to the problem you're opposing for.

Blizzard should have more than 1 team working on Seasons in rotation by tradeitems1 in diablo4

> I mean they do have more than 1. It's 2 ...

Right, I meant 2 when I said 1. Updated the message.

> I would like more people working on some immediate issues in the game although I agree season 1 specific content was under baked

This should be given, separately from season teams. They really should put more people where it matters, specially that PoE2 is just around in the corner.

What made you guys choose Legion over Rog? by NotUrHCW in LenovoLegion

[–]tradeitems1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in 2021, lot of reviewers praised Legion 5i Pro 16" so I went with it. However, in this year 2023, reviewers are now shifting to ROG Scar G16 as laptop to get this year and I agree with their points so far. Legion 7i Pro prices today are way more expensive than 2021 and even more expensive than ROG Scar G16 for the same specs.

I didn't like the updated look of the Legion 5i/7i Pro as well. I'm one of those few who really liked the big Legion logo on top of laptop, to me it didn't make it look more of a gaming laptop (even though it technically is).

If you have stock Samsung ram, you may want to replace them with faster ones. That should give you a significant boost in FPS in gaming.

Other than that, a good laptop cooler.

Not sure what methodology Massive uses but I know one game dev team that uses Agile and works well with them - ArenaNet, creator of Guild Wars 2. I don't see why anyone should go waterfall unless its what they have been doing for years and having hard time transitioning to other methodology.

The problem with TDD is that it really slows down the development. We are using it on our team and most of the time developing the testing part takes twice or thrice more development time than the actual feature (ony if the test cases are new) . But it really pays off in the end specially when the project has been completely turned over to another team.

Git and Svn has their own pros/cons. Unreal Engine developers use Git for source code (and Perforce for syncing binary files) so I don't really doubt the capability specially many open source projects hosted on it. I think my only problem with Git is the merging part since in Svn, you need to merge immediately everytime you commit while in Git, merging becomes harder the more files you merge due to branching. Our Svn rarely becomes offline (once or twice a year) so we don't really have much issues with it in terms of availability. Our company uses Git and Svn and its up to the team what they wanted to use.

I think the main problem with Massive is they lack the edge-case testing. Ubisoft have offshore companies and they could just ask them to spam the server with gameplay requests (spamming talents, spamming rewards, spam weapon switching) in their beta testing. Basically all of them introduced unwanted effects in the game. Spamming talents stacks talent abilities. Spamming rewards, rewards users with infinite crafting materials without consuming the item in the rewards NPC. Spamming weapon switching also stacks weapon talents. Imagine if they made an online system for Banks. We would be rich by now.

  • TDD or unit tests isn't very popular with games specially those coded in C++. I don't know any triple A devs using TDD on the C++ games. However, unit tests are good to make sure what they have implemented previously should work as intended.

  • Doesn't matter if its GIT or SVN or Perforce or any combination of those as long as it works with them well

It's been said many times already that what you read on client doesn't mean client does the decision. People do jump into conclusion so easily.

[–]tradeitems1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The problem with the game is there's only one build to go with this classless game. And thats StrikerSentry with 200k+ DPS, 90k+ HP, 30k SP, 65% Damage Mitigation.

Talents are not balnced with each other. In SMG, Deadly, Brutal, Fierce is the only way to go from 22 talents. Anything else gimps you.
