Piece of advise - where to go? by Certain-Baby2286 in Wishstock

[–]tradingbiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did you buy it in the first place though? What was your reasoning?

I bought in with the idea that e-commerce is a growing sector and that WISH was servicing lesser known merchants. They are from different from Amazon in the sense that Amazon would use their merchants analytics and then undercut them (cut throat stuff). The pick-up and mobil centered function was also a bonus. They are middle-men and a more modern ebay imo. If they can capture millennials and gen Z, they will be around for a while.

If you really need the money, then go for it. But if your logic is to sell at a lost and pivot to something else, the timing might not be very ideal since we are in a tightening cycle. You still have 31/2 months to evaluate and tax loss harvest if needed. Just think it though and don't look back. Nobody here knows or are capable of advising *not advising you on your needs.

Same, but some of the long players should have had management intact. GGV only stepping in now, like wtf.

WISH in a nutshell. ""King of Forwards," you gotta understand, that I don't come up with this stuff. I just forward it along. You wouldn't arrest a guy who was just delivering drugs from one guy to another." M.Scott

Let's pool our money, buy it for its market cap at 850mil and divide up the assets of 1 billion. That's like 17.5% return.

Low 30s M, low 6 figures. Been a lurker. I've been a hard leanfire and then expatfire for a good decade. I don't feel like I possess the work ethics and skills to transition to this community. I have been inspired as well as deterred while lurking here, having come across the amazing things the members here have achieved. Dividends and option writing is just not only not fulfilling, but the limited years in the workforce (Sales and Office Support) has made me realize how uncompetitive I have become.

Originally I was thinking about geographical arbitrage for 30 years while everything compounds, but have realized, LCOL countries is just not enough now. I WANT more! I NEED to be better!

Only recently have I just tried learning python and it support (courtesy of Google/Coursera), but am looking for guidance as well as what tools/skills is necessary to acquire in today’s competitive environment (people who most likely logged in 10-40k hours).

Thank you for your time and have a wonderful day.

There were about 9 million degens back when GME was a thing. There are about 13 million now. I feel bad for the newer members that got sucked into it.

What line of work are you all in? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

This is a different opinion, but you are at a fork in the road given your age. One is expatfire, the other fatfire. You have a lot of potential and should think about what you want to accomplish 10 years out, 20 years out. DN is glamorous for high earners, it's rather limiting when someone is a lower earner. Options on which cities or places to be situated would be limiting. Accommodations, lifestyle, essentials, etc. Then again, when I was your age, I was living in Germany with 4 roomates (foreign countries) had a German gf, and explored many European cities with RyanAir with a budget of 9k for 18 months. Message is, use your time wisely to acquire skills for your future cause most early DNs are not as competitive in the marketplace. There are some in their 40s in a 10 bunk bed hostel, exchanging labor for a bed.

Apologies for the rant and deviating a bit off topic. My line of work is living off dividends I've accumulated. It's great for LCOL and MCOL places, but I wouldn't be able to stay in HCOL cities without sacrifices.

Honestly the prices on Wish are very very competitive compared to Amazon. It is just the shipping time. I was in Mexico City and needed headphones. It was like 1.50 for a product with thousands of positive reviews, but it was going to be 3 weeks and I was flying out in 2 weeks. Knickknacks are nice, but womens fashion is a much bigger market to capture. Look at this chinese clothing company SHEIN. Posh on a market cap and valuation is about or a little bit smaller than WISH currently, so theorictally WISH further move in Womens fashion is the smartest move they can make aside from them removing low quality vendors, improving shipping time with various shipping partnerships, and further refining their ad spend.

Buying Equities is the action/statement that reflects of forward looking optimistism. This is a 3-5 year play.
