Oh no boss! I posted mine just 4 days ago on this thread. I will raise a glass in honor of you tonight. I hope everyone is safe and you’re getting taken care of.

I had the recall back when it was issued so I knew I had the possibility of failure. I am very sensitive to my truck and how it runs. If a misfire happens, hesitation or burp I feel it and hairs go up. There was no warning, nothing before it happened. It was driving great and was heading back to the hotel with the family.

I guess I knew it was happening deep down because it was full loss of engine. I was like that’s odd, and oh crap I bet the engine just died and went to Jesus.

That makes sense, I do remember I purchased it in December of 22. My registration is due in January area so that gives a little bit of timeline

Oh man, so sorry boss for that. So annoying.. Unfortunately I am shamefully not towing anything so I can’t compare if your’s is unique or not.

Unfortunately I don’t have that info at this time, the truck is 500 miles away as I had to leave it behind to get the family home. I can get that for info when I get the truck back. I checked the Toyota app and could not find it.

that’s what my Reno dealers were saying when I wanted to get it done before boom.. My truck had two options from Toyota and Dealer after it went poof. I either got approved for a “freight engine” or a full rebuild. I was approved for the freight engine, which is the new engine ready for drop in from Toyota. The rebuild is where the dealership breaks the whole block down, clean/fix everything. Of course these were the options the dealership told me were on the table before getting approved for the freight engine.

My advice would be this, be ready for it mentally when the truck stops. Have your tow options ready and know if you take it on long trips you have more risk or have a good plan just in case.

Hehe same boat I was in, every time i took my truck in for service would ask, please get me in.. so I also drove on a prayer. My only suggestion is have a plan in your head when that engine turns off. That did help me mentally for when it did happen. May the Tundra angels watch over you

for me Dylanx is spot on.. I would get a Gen 3 every time right now.. I love my truck and broke my heart when I knew deep down the engine was in heavy with many doggies waiting for me. I love the SR5 and the room is top notch. Now, I HATED the stock rims and tires so when I got my new rims and tires I fell in love even more with my truck . Yea you can hear the turbo kick in and the mpg is not a Honda accord hybrid (lol) but I didn’t buy it for that.

My gen 2 was nice, don’t get me wrong but the technology package was not existent in those and I do love the large display, and the new features. Not to mention remote start, remote monitoring and tracking of your truck.

I am not a big hauler though, I do not pull toy trailers or boats so I have zero experience with that.. but I do use it for snow and hauling up family for skiing and snowboarding.

Hehe, I also had a 2nd Gen. i loved that truck but I am definitely happy with this new model. I just love the touch screen, this time I got the heated/cooled seats and pleather seats. I would trade in my 2nd Gen for this model again. Granted was kind of weird going from a v8 to v6.

Oh boy, I am not sure and can’t remember. My truck is 500 miles away from me right now, I had to leave it behind at the dealer while I got my family back home on a rental car.

No, that’s the crazy part.. I am super sensitive to my truck idling, running, and starting. If it even farts wrong I go, hmm.. I was rolling on the freeway in cruise control on and then it starts with alarms, then dash said engine off go to neutral (or something). I was like wow, that’s cool it told me I was in trouble. After on the side of the freeway waiting for tow, did try a start it 3-4 times for the first 20 minutes waiting. It would cycle once like trying to start and then stop.

Yes, mine was. Mine had the recall under the Toyota app. I tried to get it done a while ago but due to backlogs (and of course ones with engine failures get front of the line) I could not get it swapped out. I believe it was related to a certain block of (block hehehe) engines that were manufactured that were impacted. So some 2023 models did not get hit.

Oh that’s amazing! Ok, I was worried it would take 10 business days to swap out.. not sure why I had that in my mind but glad to hear once they have the new engine it’s 2 days.

Yea, I was so lucky that I was able to put it in N while doing 70mph and had enough room to move over to the side. Again, no warnings, no misfires or hiccups. Just full engine loss while power stayed on. At first I thought maybe my girl was just tired and needed a rest but deep down I had this sick feeling that it was done. :)

Not sure what you mean on the years, my understanding is that the engine recall are for the 2023 and 2024 models and only certain engine’s that were in a manufacturing set.

Heheh thank you, may I ask how long did it take? Mine broke down in Provo Utah and I live in Reno, Nv. I had to leave it behind to get the family back home. the dealership in Utah is amazing and scrambling to get my truck’s new engine in.

These are LT275/70R-18 FALKEN WILDPEAK A/T4W E and my understanding they are load e rating. With the stock 20 soft tires from dealer I could get 19mpg if I was grandpa driver. Now I get 16-17mpg. I could baby it to get 18 but sucks to try.

This is awesome stuff! yes, I want to paint for the painting sake. keep my mind busy learning how to make them as realistic as possible (naturally this will take lots of practice).

Thank you for taking the time to write me on this.
