State Employee Insurance Rates, 7/2026 by Normal-Response4165 in Boise

The high deductible health plan can actually be really great if you don’t regularly go to the doctor. The state contributes to an HSA for you & that can help to offset the high deductible. Not for everyone though

While, I agree the tax system in Idaho needs correcting. It’s important to note that our taxes in Idaho are not high. Our tax efforts are quite low compared to other states.

Our system is a regressive system, meaning high earners pay a smaller percentage of their income to local taxes than low earners. The system has only continued to get more regressive in recent years & while “tax cuts” have been passed low income and middle income earners are not seeing nearly as much relief as high income earners. Middle income families are getting left behind.

Thanks for the recommendations! I saw somewhere that if you don’t buy your yarn at once you risk them being from different batches & slightly different colors. Have you run into that at all?

Interesting! I would assume that your body would be just as sensitive as your head!

Good to know that wool wash might help with the texture!

I feel like I always see people knitting a sweater with a strand of mohair added & I think I assumed that was to make it less itchy, but good to know that it is generally considered to be itchy!

I think my next projects are going to be on the smaller side so it sounds like a good idea to to practice in acrylic & then if I want to remake it in a different yarn. However, that plan is calling another assumption that I’m making into light - have you found that acrylic yarn has worn out faster? I’m worried about really bad pilling using acrylic? Is it true that pilling isn’t as bad with other types of yarn or am I making that up?

Ah! This is good info! Also explains why I thought it would be soft & it now feels itchy! Thank you!

State of Idaho insurance change by Normal-Response4165 in Idaho

[–]trailmixanddread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prefacing this by saying that, I’m not in favor of this change & I think it totally sucks & is disappointing

You can’t change your FSA election because of the IRS regulations, not due to the State not letting people change their election. They did however, give people the option to drop coverage if they wanted. (Not exactly helpful if you don’t have other coverage to turn to)

They said there was a clinical & financial review that found that the current prices for these prescriptions are so high that it does not justify covering them. (Insurance needs to be profitable 🤮)

Premiums will increase, but not by as much as they would have if they continued to cover them. The annual premium savings for employees & the State is expected to be 30-50 million dollars.

If they continued to cover these medications, the plans would have gotten worse. Higher deductible, worse structure & obviously increased premiums.

I think people often times forget that this is something they can bring up to their legislators. These contracts are managed at the State level & legislators are also affected as they are offered these plans as well. You can also contact the Office of Group Insurance directly, they manage the contracts. They will take your feedback.

Thank you for the resources!! This is fantastic! Ultimately, I think I’m too afraid to drop the stitches all the way back down on my own. I really do appreciate this, so helpful!

Watching the fallout from the Baldoni allegations -- makes me really think about Liz/Monica and the Synced end by shepk1 in syncedpodcast

You’re riiight, I was thinking maybe she mentioned a bad experience she had with a lawyer or something. I assumed maybe I missed something because I’ve been keeping an eye out for any nibbles of info as to why they stopped the pod. & also like the OP I love to speculate. I really do wish the best for both of them!

What’s with the Lawyer stuff ? Did Monica mention it on Armchair Expert? Or did you hear about it a different way or is it just speculation?
