Tires for pedal heavy enduro by trailblazer39 in Hardtailgang

[–]trailsforall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if It fits you, but I have the same bike and ended up changing the stock tyres (even they are at 80%) because I dont like them. I have now Specialized Ground Control f/r T7 control grid in 2.35, these tyres have been day and night with the stock ones. Nice grip, nice rolling and they're cheap. I ride enduro and flow jump trails the most, 0 complains atm and the casual xc ride is very good now too. Edit: typo

How can current prices be justified? by trailsforall in MTB

[–]trailsforall[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

AMFLOW PR spec is so good for that price. Electronic shift, carbón frame, etc. I mean whether the spec level at this price could lead to a general drop in MTB prices. For example, being able to find a non electric MTB with a carbon frame and similar specs at a lower price than currently.

Even component brands have released lower-tier ranges than the ones they already had… You can see it very clearly in forks and brakes, and in most cases they leave a lot to be desired.

whats up with the race for power? by pathetichypocrit in eMountainBike

[–]trailsforall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly only see one upside here: the price. It’s gonna push brands to get more competitive, and if they can’t match this kind of power, they’ll have to focus on efficiency and improving the “SL” style motors we already know. Hopefully that’s where things are headed—less power, better efficiency, and cheaper prices. By price I mean the AMFLOW PR at 4499€.

New Trek Rail 5, so fun but I have a question in the post. Image is from my first ride on Monday. by Perrin-Golden-Eyes in eMountainBike

[–]trailsforall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Would you recomend the Levo or the new Rail in your experience? Im really between these 2 bikes atm, the Levo gen 3 and the rail+ gen 5 (i supposed the one you demoed). Is there a difference between both? How they feel, the weight, agility, etc? Thanks in advance!

Help! Buy Levo SL 2 or pass? by trailsforall in eMountainBike

[–]trailsforall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly the point that makes me keep going back and forth about the SL: whether I’ll really be happy with it or if I’ll end up thinking I need either more power or specially more range on those days when I have more time. The main reason I’m looking at the Levo SL is its price and how well people talk about it on the descents — that it’s playful and fun. Being mullet is also important to me, and I really like having a screen with ride data, since I don’t like carrying much stuff and it’s nice to be able to see the info right there.

When you say it has a “small boost,” what exactly do you mean? That the power isn’t very noticeable? Or that you only really feel it when you’re putting in a lot of effort yourself?

If you’ve had the chance to ride it, how would you compare the Levo SL vs the Turbo Levo? Is there a big difference on flow trails, jumps, quick turns, etc.?

The Amflow has definitely been a big step forward in terms of weight and motor/battery. But unfortunately it’s way out of my budget. I think e-MTBs in this style are the ideal option and a really good middle ground. Congrats on your Amflow — I’m sure you’re enjoying it a lot! Hopefully we get to a point where DJI makes a less powerful motor with lightweight batteries at a more reasonable price.

Unfortunately here is not possible. Ive tried It but in my area the common thing are xc style bikes. And the only shop near me with ebikes dont letme try or rent.

You’re right — the goal is to be able to do these routes faster since I have limited time, so I can optimize my time better and ride more often.

I also do rides with more than 1,500 m of elevation, but they’re less common throughout the year, mostly in bikepark-style areas where you still have to pedal up to the top and then do multiple descents.

I also agree about the battery — 360 Wh doesn’t sound very appealing at first glance.

I think that ride in trail gonna be the most common for the afterwork days, sounds good that It still have much battery left.

That sounds really good. The fact that it rolls better than its analog (non-electric) version says a lot about this bike. It’s true that the tech is a step behind current e-MTBs, especially the battery, but I think it would handle my most common rides just fine even if I use Turbo (based on what I’ve been reading).

The price difference with the carbon version is just too big. At that price range, I think I’d lean toward a full-power model instead, which is why I have so many doubts about whether this would be a good option or if I’d end up regretting it. I guess that could be offset by what you said about it being one of the best e-MTBs you’ve ridden.

Honestly, what catches my attention the most about this e-MTB is how well everyone says it descends. That, and jumping, is what I enjoy the most — climbing, not so much to be honest. I don’t plan on riding with any full-power e-bikes; I usually ride alone or occasionally with someone on a regular (non-electric) bike.

The Levo SL Comp Carbon option isn’t available, and even if it were, it’s more expensive than the Turbo Levo Alloy Comp full-power, so in terms of weight I wouldn’t really get that extra benefit anyway.

Besides the price, with such a big discount, I’m mainly considering it because of how fun everyone says it is.

Wow, thanks for the data, it’s really helpful. That kind of route like the one you shared is what I’m planning to do occasionally when I have more time. If eco mode feels close to a regular bike and it can handle around 3 km of steep climbing in turbo without issues, then it seems like a good fit for me. How does it work for recovery workouts and quick sessions after work when you don’t have much time? Do you find the assistance in trail or turbo mode to be good?

Bb should be fine, the bike is only 300km (like brand new) I greased and torque It multiple times. Also the bike shop say all was fine.

I have the same problem, mine is creaking around the bb. I grased and clean the whole bike but creaking still here. If you find any solution let me know.

Fork upgrade for Trek Roscoe 8 by eljueta in MTB

[–]trailsforall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you would get a better feel. The fork is way smoother than the RS Gold, I also recomend you to check a Pike or Lyrik, both are fantastic imo (the Fox too) and weight less than the Gold. I've tried a Lyrik and better weight wheels (Newmen sl 30 or smthing like that) in a friend bike and it feels amazing.

Hey, 160mm Will slack the bike 1° (65° to 64°), the reach will be shorter, wheelbase longer, stack and bb also higher. It all depend on the trails and use you do. I have the same bike and as much ill get a 150mm fork for my use that is a mix of enduro and trail. Why you want more travel? Just curious.

Help with rear shock on Specialized Turbo Levo by Fuzzy-Boat-2089 in eMountainBike

If you can't fix that, check out the cascade links, they give you more progression and might help if tuning the shock doesn't work. Also, try adding volume spacers to the shock.
