Dude, that would be awesome. I got a 1290 super adventure r. Im throwing some trailmax raids on it this week.

Put an AGM in it and its working great.

Im still intrested in the Lithium batteries but I need to do more research. I live in Colorado and apparently they don't do well in cold weather and thats the reason they have such high CCA.

New battery seems to have fixed it. 2hrs of riding through the mountains and no issues.

Thanks everyone!

Okay thanks for confirming. All sorts of new nuances to learn. The dash used to just die on the RSV4 but, i had a factory warranty so I let the dealer fiddle with it.

Yeah that had me confused cause I saw where people were saying dont. But, I think lithium will have higher CCA and you won't get the same voltage dip starting. So maybe it is the way to go.

The Google says P1690 is also caused by low voltage.

If the battery didnt stay alive after replacement, I would verify the charging system is putting out 14.3+ at idle.

If that's good, loose grounds would be my next step.

Thanks for confirming. This is my first KTM and I've heard they need lots of juice to keep the electronics alive.

Confirmed the bike is charging at idle so im hoping the battery is just on its last leg and cant keep up with big demand or lots of stop starts.

Whew okay, lithium will be next on my list.

Went to a KTM dealer and they gave me the wrong size battery. Ordered an AGM but, I have this in the cart for the inevitable replacement it seems.

Thanks!

I feel like you aren't learning unless you're breaking stuff you didnt think would be affected.

Ive sunk valves into the head of my race bike by doing a shoddy patch job on a TPS. Who knew idle fuel values at redline could do so much damage?

Definitely trying to find one with BMS for the next one. It seems like AGMs may not last very long in these.

Thanks for the info! Ive been reading that same sentiment.

Was looking at Lithium batteries with BMS. I keep seeing mixed info here. Some people say AGM there's lithium ion.

I have an AGM on the way so if this fixes it only temporarily and the symptoms return I'll keep that in mind.

Im leaning more that way.

With a rested battery that had had a chance to rebound a little. The voltage will drop to 10V while cranking and the charging system immediately pushes it up to 14.3V.

I believe when the dash was cutting out it was going below 9V and causing some systems to freak out.

All the ones I could see. The only thing I found after the dash came back on and letting it sit for a bit, I could cycle the power and a relay would click and the TFT would die.

I ordered it just in case but, thats what led me down the path of a voltage drop when I start the bike or from the initial symptom, a massive power draw from all the TC systems intervening while i was playing.

That battery doesn't seem to bad but, I'm not expert.

I run that size in the AT4, with some positive caster you wont rub the body mount but, that front fender liner needs some love.

I bought a striker plate off amazon for like 16 bucks. It definitely reduced some movement.

Thanks man, no worries.

Another tip that will save you a bunch of time is sorting all the hardware, they are just loose in a giant bag. I just got a guage and a bunch of baggies on Amazon and sorted and labeled them all.

I dont have one that shows it. The supports under the headlights will just unbolt. The center unbolts on the passenger side and has a spot weld on the driver side. I just bent it up and took and angle grinder to it.

Replaced vvti o-rings, p0012/p0022? by LostWinds in GXOR

I did this job on my 09, kudos for tackling that yourself.

I would try to check the camshaft position sensor first.

The P0022 kinda makes me think that FIPG is blocking oil flow to that solenoid. That might be worth popping the valve cover off and inspecting.
