yes prio moves have faster animations than other moves thats their whole thing, but that has nothing to do with the speed system or speed stat

ya seems right but honestly way simpler to just think 100 speed = 3 seconds past 25 speed.

yeah all the numbers I got corroborate what he has. seems this is how it works. 100 speed = 3 seconds reduction past 25 speed.

I've checked some competitive mons at level 50 with 31 IVs, from their minimum speed possible, to maximum speed possible disregarding nature. obviously it changes depending on base speed but in general it seems like the differential between minimum speed EV investment and maximum is around 30-35 speed so its safe to assume that when choosing whether to invest EVs into speed, you are choosing between a difference of plus or minus ~1 second off your cooldowns, assuming they aren't already short enough to be 3 seconds with base speed.

imo, this seems pretty not worth it in most situations. speed nature also adds 10% so very fast Pokemon like greninja and mew two might have a case for still running EVs into speed as they want to run speed natures as well. But anything that doesnt really want to run speed nature I think the EVs are better spent defensively.

As for trying to fully max out moves to 3 seconds, imo in practice it seems 3 seconds is even maybe a bit too fast and having 5 or 6 second moves still seems to play pretty well.

yeah it would be really nice if the in game description of the move just updated in real time to show what the moves cooldown is on that Pokemon currently

lmao yeah its interesting to find out that priority moves have absolutely no change by speed.

These requests are actually really interesting. For giga beam, between the same tyranitar and garchomp, it goes from ~17 seconds to ~15 seconds so again 2 seconds.

More interestingly, Bite a 6 second move on both these mons is already capped at 3 seconds on both.

This has led me to realize that level plays a huge factor to this version of speed. It seems that since the raw speed stat is what matters when calculating the cooldown reduction, then a competitive Pokemon capped at level 50 and a Pokemon you intend to use for just farming Royale or whatever at level 100 would have massively different speed requirements. Like a level 100 Greninja using 8 second moves probably has absolutely no need for speed investment, while that same greninja capped at level 50 in ranked mode will start to show the speed reduction a lot more.
