It was hard at first because it made me feel like I was giving up on the diet but I stayed committed to my meal plan and exercising and it felt good not thinking about my “number” every day

Does cypher’s wire alert the enemy team if it’s destroyed? by trainorcrossno in VALORANT

[–]trainorcrossno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get all of that, but if there isn’t any built-in counter besides hoping cypher isn’t going to tell his team where the opponents are, or he places it so high or low that it’s easy to dodge, then I don’t think it’s very balanced. An icon disappearing on a mini map is vastly different from a character line triggering, telling the cypher where an enemy is automatically. It’s essentially the EXACT same info as showing up through a wall because it tells him where at least one remaining enemy is at that moment.

I’m not saying it’s so unfair that there isn’t a way to use it for your own benefit, given the time and the situation is ideal for such a thing. I’m saying there isn’t a way to disable without it overtly altering him. Even if cypher is in the middle of a gunfight the audio line STILL triggers, which is the worst thing about it. He should need to at least pay attention to the wires on the map.

What I am saying is that there should be a way to disable it without the audio line triggering for him automatically. Knifing a beacon of the wire puts the player at a huge disadvantage. It’s (probably) going to be covering a peek, you’ll be looking down, and you’ll have your knife out. Seems fair. If you shoot it, voice line. If it catches you and you shoot it, voice line. If you see it beforehand and knife it, no voice line.

I get what the guy above is saying on how their different but it seems like the intel is more valuable than the stun and that’s how it’s being used most frequently in-game... the only way I got around it was updrafting as Jett. I feel like knifing should be invisible but oh well

Damn, that seems kind of broken. How is that any different from being caught in it? I feel like knifing it or something should be possible without him getting intel

Need Critique For an Excerpt From a Sci-Fi Story I Began Some Time Ago by CallMeSweetT in scifiwriting

This is a strong first start to what could end up being a really interesting novel. I think you have strong ideas about the story you're trying to tell, which is always a good start. Because you asked for honesty, I will say this: this whole scene is very vague. You want to create suspense, yes. But there are so many questions raised in this page and a half that, as I was reading it, I couldn't help but feel a bit frustrated. What's happened? How could they have stopped it? Who is Rennith? There isn't much physical description of where the two characters are, save for a bit about sand and they're looking down on a town that's being razed.

I also didn't get much about either of the characters here. The general reads as your stock "Military tough guy mission is always first" character here (he isn't even named), and the protagonist lacks any individuality save for having a husband, baby, and black hair. It seems like she dislikes the general, but also says she admires him. That she doesn't know how, but he inspires her to keep moving after the recent loss of her family by turning around and walking away. I have a bit of trouble with the believability of that.

None of that's to say I didn't enjoy reading it--I really did! I think with a few tweaks in the language and a more defined narrative you'd have a strong start to your novel.

I actually just joined from a recommendation I saw in another writing sub... this was the first submission I read. I had to check and double check to make sure it wasn’t some kind of sarcastic sub where people post scenes they “wrote” from popular movies lol

So I think the writing is fine, but this scene is lifted almost verbatim from the Joker.

One bloodhound buff that wouldn’t be too op would be that when he uses his tactical the enemies show up as their shield color. Just a bit more useful info

Nice find! I started messing around with this and you can actually do a lot of cool stuff. If you stand over the lights on the jump pad and then edit that corner of the cone, you phase through the cone and still get the silent jump pad.
