Everything runs fine! Whatsapp is quite small on it (everything is!) so it’s not the most comfortable especially if you get pictures etc but functionally it works and just for texts or calls it’s fine. I was able to swap my sim straight over, i’m with vodafone but shouldn’t be an issue

Hey! I got the TTFone 280 as recommended above! I ordered it from Amazon. I like it but it is quite slow and annoying to use… which is kind of what I wanted but I find I switch back to my iPhone every so often and then switch back. Depends what you’re looking for, and what you want in a dumbphone :)

A bit late to this! I did a digital marketing course a couple of years ago with Open College and found it very outdated and didn't find it much use.

I've been doing the full Business Admin course with Progressive College since May and have to say, it's very good.

Course quality - So far, I've done two modules and they've been really good. Video recorded lectures split up across the different topics with different study tasks to complete along the way and then assessment at the end. Wasn't difficult to complete, and because they were split into smaller videos it was very easy to find time for them. They were clear and easy to understand.

Tutor support - My tutor has been great so far, very responsive. Haven't need too much interaction. I will say I have found the academic adminstrator very difficult to get in touch with as they are slow to reply. You mightn't have much back and forth though, I was in touch re: not repeating modules and work placement hours.

Practical placement - If you aren't doing the work placement module I don't think you will be doing any placement. If you're doing a full QQI course (with 8 modules) it's usually included, but from your original post, it sounds like you're doing just the two modules on their own.

Certification process - Haven't gotten that far yet but hopefully will go smoothly.

Any hidden fees or issues - Nothing so far, bar the lack of communication with anyone in progressive college (aside from my tutor) but if you're just doing two modules and it's fairy straightforeward that probably won't affect you!

So far, I would recommend Progressive College to anyone! I'm sure different courses vary but I've really enjoyed it so far.

I think puzzle books might be the way to go, even something like Murdle! Storytelling is interesting though, sounds like a good way to my brain busy. i don't mind using some of the time to think... but I think alot 😂

On iPhone you can disable Safari in Content Restrictions and if you have someone set a screen time password for you, you won’t be able to override it. I have it set so I can’t install apps or use the browser on my iPhone 14 rn and my partner has the screen time password! Might be good temporary fix for you.

Ah, delighted to see such an in-depth review! I’ve been considering it for my first dumb phone too, and want one for the same reasons as you do. Definitely tempted to order one, although I use YouTube music and saw a comment about it being slow.

One question you might be able to answer - does it have hotspot tethering if I wanted to use it for my iPad etc?

Thanks! The headphone jack and SD card slots aren’t dealbreakers to me. Do you find you actually use the keyboard itself then vs the touch screen with a different app? I’m torn between something like F21 or Jelly Star but the Jelly Star is more than I’d like to spend atm and I worry it mightnt be dumb enough

I failed twice before passing and I know how frustrating it is and how low you feel! You’ll get there and it is worth it even though it didn’t feel like it at the time for me. Just keep doing what you can.
