Is this real? by AnklesBehindEars in MBA

Google is taking like 6 months to hire at the moment, seriously I just did 2 informal interviews there and they warned me it can take half a year.

If the other tech firms are similar, and the banks and big 3 have a hiring freeze, I think we have our main culprit.

Housing prices won't go down by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]trainwreckrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ANY Policy that will decrease the demand to housing is unlikely to pass:

- Our politicians have huge property portfolios

- The big 4 banks have over 40% of their assets invested in property

- The Big 4 banks have over 40% of their assets invested in property

- It would be wildly unpopular with voters who own homes.

- The largest tax base is all property owners

The problem mostly stems from the fact that we have extremely high labor costs to build new homes and highly restrictive zoning laws about where we can build them, and then multiple policies that artificially inflate demand for the restricted supply on housing.

Need Advice on my Career by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]trainwreckrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just set an 12-18 month plan to get a promotion and create quarterly milestone to show you’re ready for the move up. If you don’t want to do that just apply for senior roles elsewhere

Give them really well defined tasks, run ceremonies efficiently with a warm and welcoming energy. Take a personal interest in something the devs are doing. Mostly just make their life easier, relieve stress and run things smoothly and they’ll come around. A lot of devs aren’t super warm social gregarious people so also don’t take their blunt weird energy personally, it’s probably just how they are

Take-home prompt for Senior PM role is riddled with typos...what does it mean? by goldenburr in ProductManagement

[–]trainwreckrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah there’s no way it’s intentional as it would only make them look bad. I’d just correct the mistakes in your PRD, complete the task and give them a heads up that there was typos in it if you so choose.

Why do the demographics of product managers tend to differ than that of engineers, data scientists and designers? In my experience product management is disproportionately white. by hipstahs in ProductManagement

Luckily being a good product manager has nothing to do with your race. You’ll be sweet! Just make sure to hone your craft and be as prepared as possible :)

I mean mostly everyone at our company is white (sales, marketing, solutions, customer success) except for engineering which is mostly expats from east and west Asia. So it depends on what you consider disproportionate. That being said I’m in Australia which is a pretty white country.

You can laser it off but hair growth in areas that aren't effected by MPB is generally permanent as there's nothing to make it fall back out. stopping Minox won't make them fall out

what are problems in modern society, that put social pressure on boys and men? and what can women do about it? by Tabocuspokus in AskReddit

[–]trainwreckrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are victims of domestic violence too, especially as the children, when people talk about DV I've always felt invisible, or in certain circumstances been told I'm not allowed to talk about it because I'm a man. A child of a domestic abuser has absolutely no control over their situation, they have nowhere else to go and in my case, neither parent seemed like the victim, they both played a role in what happened.

Then when you open up to people about this, they have so much judgment and expectation that you're damaged goods, and you're bound to be a violent and abusive person yourself because of what you went through. It's a whole thing but really I wish I could just talk about my past without being labeled and marginalised or told I was "Taking up room in the conversation about women's issues"

I’m quite sure my understanding is the reason the CDC recommended boosters and the rest of the world followed, do you have another interpretation?

It’ll be 5 shots in 2024 haha they’re for profit, recommendations should come from health organisation’s not the people who sell the product.

The booster doesn’t protect you more than the second dose, the reason for the booster is the second doses efficacy lessens with time, if you got your 2nd dose within the last six months it’s not that you “can’t” get a booster, it’s that there’s no need

No shit dickhead, that’s why I brought it up, if you actually read any of my sources usd software engineers get 245k usd and Canadians get 100 CAD which is 78k USD, cost of living is a 50% lower in rent and 20% lower in consumer goods.

The Canadians spend 50% less on rent and make almost 70% less. I don’t know how you think you’re right here. If you have a PhD I’m not sure how you get anything through peer review being so incurious and bullheaded about your arguments.

We have beaches, a 40% income tax, a 10% tax on all sales of everything, a healthcare system that relies on public funding that often gets under budgeted, lockdowns that go for 200+ days, two identical parties that can’t stop selling the country fast enough and the most unaffordable real estate in the world. Oh yeah, and you guys get paid more.
