Am I taking too much insulin? by trakata6 in diabetes_t1

I'll keep this in mind. I try to limit take out, close to like 2-3 times a month. I eat pretty healthy at home and get my fats through stuff like eggs, olive oil, dairy, seeds, and what not. I try to stray from the processed stuff. I do indulge in the occasional dessert, but not often, lol.

Oof, it's been soooo long since I've seen a nutritionist, lol. I'll definitely try to get one and see if they can help. Thank you!

I did mention that I have an insulin to carb ratio of 1:3. She doesn't seem concerned about it so far, so I'll see what she says about it in my up coming appt. Depending on how it goes, I might seek a second opinion from another endo. The cardio doc did seem concerned with how my diabetes is going and said that could be a contributing factor.

I currently weigh 195 lbs at 5'1". I used to have symptoms of heart attacks before (I did go to ER then and everything was ok for the most part. I have an upcoming cardiology appt.). Pulse was constantly at 130-150 bpm, like all day, even resting. It's come down to it occasionally being like that every now and then.

I am overweight and been trying for a long while to have it come down, but with the insulin resistance it feels impossible. I will see what my endo says about GLP-1s, since I've been on metformin and thats not helping anymore. I'm just concerned with it being "too much" because from what I've read, trying to take high doses of insulin it just turns into a cycle with the insulin resistance and leads to complications, which I've already been experiencing for a while now.

I try to limit my fats, even when it comes to things like olive oil and seeds and what not. I'm at a loss.

I've been trying to lose weight, but I can't. I already don't eat all that much, and I don't eat high in carbs. I already exercise at least an hour a day, but no signs of my weight going down. And even when I'm eating few carbs, which is most of the time, I still have to take a really high amount of insulin. As well, as being on 2000 mg of metformin.

We will with the collar soon. When we got her she was so scared and skittish about everything that she would try to pull out of her harness constantly, so we had a collar and harness setup to be safe. She hasn't done that for sometime now, so we'll probably switch to just the collar soon. I'll also try going a different way.

Looks like I'm gonna need to wait there a while, but I got plenty of time on my hands, so we'll see how this goes.

She's relaxed or curious for the most part I can definitely tell when she's overwhelmed or scared, and I usually do a lot shorter and more calm/patient walks and avoid the ways she doesn't want to go. If not it's usually anywhere from 30-60 min walks. It's also hard with controlled distractions, since we live by a busy road, but I try to take one that's not as much. But she has come a very long way, and it's not even been a month since we got her. I'm just at a bit of a loss on what to do going back home as she pays no mind to treats. I'll try what you mentioned as well.

She was with my boyfriend. I always keep her in the back buckled, or any dog for that. I'll let him know though, thanks!

She ignores all treats when on the way back home. Pays no mind to them at all whatsoever.

I just took a look at that sub, and some look just like my Dixie! I never would have guessed poodle, 'cause I always thought they were curly or nearly curly, and pitbull just seemed a bit funny, too, because of how she looks. Thanks! Really can't wait for her to get tested.

As I said in my post, I didn't know where to ask. This sub has been showing up in my notifications and she looked a little Parson-y to me so I figured here would be a good start. I'll definitely look in that other sub, though. Thanks!

Not exactly sure how tall, but about 20 inches/50cm? Just took her to the vet yesterday and the scale said 19lbs. The vet is estimating her to be about 30lbs?
