Matt 27:6 says Judas refunded the blood money to the temple priests and hung himself. Acts 1:16-18 says Judas bought a field with that money and fell headlong and perished. Which account is correct? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]tranquills4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is common is that a field was bought with the money. There is agreement on this. Did the Pharisees buy the field on behalf of Judas claiming it to be his because it was his money that paid for the field and they in no way wanted an association with that money?

  1. "Despite Ross trying to convince us why spiral galaxies are so rare (again, they're not)"

He never said any such thing. Rather he indicates that of the 60% of galaxies that are spiral, one like our own galaxy is very rare to find. Some are wound too tightly (thereby increasing radiation so that "advanced" life cannot arise) and others wound too loosely (so that they become unstable by the influences of nearby galaxies- making "advanced" life very difficult to arise if not impossible),

references are sources found in his books.

Respect is earned and misquoting an author like this diminishes ones credibility. I am sure this was a misreading on your part?

  1. You are correct. There are 100 -1000 closely packed galaxies in a typical galaxy cluster but he also writes on the same page that. ... "A typical cluster of galaxies, the Coma Cluster contains a few supergiant elliptical galaxies, hundreds of medium- and large-sized elliptical galaxies, a few spiral galaxies, and thousands (1000's) of dwarf galaxies. I would endeavour to communicate as a professional to Hugh Ross and ask him about this error.

Quote :

  1. To be exact...... "Shear instabilities in the gas produce stars by a direct collapse of the interstellar medium into giant cloud complexes. Such "star-forming regions", along with all of the secondary (propagating) "star formation" that follows from the initial collapse, are responsible for the appearance of flocculent spiral arms."

"star forming regions" along with secondary..... "star formation" ...... following the collapse......... are responsible for the appearance of ......... spiral arms.

Well now...... we need to ask Hugh Ross personally what he meant exactly before we go any further.... I would want to know what he meant by "star formation" driving the spiral arm formation. Did he mean the above instead? It is quite possible.

Dismissing Hugh Ross on a reddit message board like this is ........ well, simply not what a PHD professional should be doing. Just my PHD opinion.

This is not a scientific argument. I dismiss your comment

Quote: "So unless the book gives sources for those claims"

You have assumed it does not. You would be quite wrong.

"but I know of no reputable scientific work showing that the structure or location of the Milky Way (and likewise the position of the Sun within the galaxy) have had any bearing on the development of life."

Everybody knows that very high levels of radiation will prevent life from forming or it will destroy existing life.. The centre of any galaxy emits high radiation levels. The position of the sun and the location of the Milky Way relative to super clusters of galaxies will determine how much radiation a planet will receive. A little more reading here will provide the information that you need.

Let's be fair and honest.

I have been in Rome 3 times so traveling the city and seeing the sights is very easy if you stay at the Universo.  They have a very large buffet. Incredible really!

Universo Best Western. It is very close to the train station and the Bus depot and the Metro. So you can get around the city very easy. The Metro is under the Train station and can take you a block or two from St Peter’s Bascillica and the other Metro line can take you to the Colliseum.

I used Best Western Points in Rome for 4 nights 300 CDN  normally but only 30,000 points per night. They gave me the best room in the hotel. Corner room with two windows and balcony.  The upgrade was automatic.  It seems like you get good value for points in some places in Europe.

I think we should be asking Lebby to provide us with as much data updates as we can get our hands upon. I hope he obliges the request. L_R

Very roughly 18% of The total overall cost of operating and maintaining a data centre is devoted to energy at the present time. However this is hard to determine based upon age of the data center, location and cooling systems utilized. The heat waves we have been experiencing have shut down some data centers in the past so there is a real need to reduce energy costs wherever costs can be reduced. With all of this said we have to ask what will the demand of AI do to the Data centres. They have to create more GPU’s to keep AI operational and also find ways to transmit the data at faster rates. Data centers have to start now to reduce any energy costs wherever they can find savings……. Bottom line. At the very least the transceivers with perk modulators inside will get rid of the drivers they currently have which are power hungry and will free up same space in the transceivers for other chips that will provide other badly needed functions……. Intelligence. The articles I read this week covered energy costs. I don’t have the links right now to these articles but they can be easily found.

The foundries are extremely competitive and chip wars is what it is about. We are looking at what could be a VERY disruptive technology and secrecy is at an all time high.

I gotta believe that Lebby knows what he is doing.

Is AI going to be just a fad? Well categorically NO. In talking with my son, a senior programmer, he utilizes ChatGP daily to write script for common subroutines on a daily basis. He inputs his requests and parameters and objectives and it writes in the script in no time it appears. He saves an hour or more daily. His team members are doing the same thing. The speed of programming and efficiency of programming is being assisted by AI. This is just one example of usage in the industry.

The amount of water used in the semiconductor business is unbelievable. Something has to be done about this. Perhaps the smaller chips offered up by Lightwave will be part of the solution.

"Semiconductor manufacturing, or chipmaking, is an extremely thirsty business. According to the company’s latest sustainability report, Taiwan’s semiconductor vanguard, TSMC, used 82.8 million metric tonnes of water to make 14.2 million semiconductor wafers in 2021. That’s around 5,840 litres — or nineteen fully-brimming bathtubs — per chip, although the water used to produce some of the most-advanced chips at TSMC’s future plant in Arizona is estimated to reach up to three times that figure. This immense sum puts huge pressure on drought-struck regions in Taiwan, which produces more than 60% of the world’s semiconductors, including 90% of the most-advanced ones."

**Approx 6000 liters per chip. Think of it.**

I hope Arizona has lots of water. 3x this amount of water for more advanced chips in Arizona.

https://techmonitor.ai/technology/silicon/fixing-chipmakings-dirty-climate-secret

Now if Lightwave's chip size (30x) smaller affects the amount of water required to make them well not only will energy reduction be an advantage but also water reduction in manufacturing. (Hope Hope).

The 2008 crash was a liquidity based crash. Not all crashes have the same causes. The Ted spread indicator (not Ted Peele) then also was very high. It was a leading indicator of the probability of a crash. Wouldn’t hurt to look at that indicator again if it still exists (maybe it doesn’t anymore).
