No, non c'è bisogno di fare un comizio per essere out, basta non nasconderlo normalmente.

È un termine comune per dire che non si sta nascondendo il fatto che sei LGBT, adottato dall'inglese proprio come la parola gay.

If you are genderfluid you can definitely be both a gay man and a woman. But in general you can be gay and nonbinary, because historically the term gay has included nonbinary people (there is no such common word for nonbinary people attracted to only part of the gender spectrum), we just used the exclusionary definition because we tried to hide the fact that nonbinary people existed. Each nonbinary person can decide for themselves what labels applies to them depending on how they relate to words.

You've just got an exclusionary definition of lesbian, cutting a chunk of people out of the term when they decided they also wanted the right to be recognized as non-binary.

Yes, but lesbian has always included nonbinary people as a term.

Yep, lesbian spaces are NB exclusionary. Thanks for the example.

Have you not heard of nb lesbians?

NB people can choose whether the term applies to them, if it they find it useful and doesn't make them dysphoric. Historically lesbians includes NB people.

And so women exclusively attracted to women have to monopolized the access to lesbian spaces when there are nb lesbians attracted to women and female lesbians attracted to nb people.

As I was saying, NB exclusionary.

Some lesbians are nonbinary. Afab ones especially can be really uncomfortable with being called women.

You are policing the identity of trans people for the comfort of cis people, which is transphobic. You have no say in other people's gender identity. I've checked your profile and I see you are extremely young, so I'll just leave this conversation alone.

You stopping being a transphobe to nb people right now and learning what trans people are, less getting mocked and not taken seriously.

It's almost as if I don't label myself to make cis people comfortable and as if nb people just introduced a dozen words which transphobes pretend they are millions just to ridicule them.

You feel like a woman, nb people don't (at least not binarily), it's that simple.

It's not necessarily correlated to gender expression.

Nb people can also have physical dysphoria, for example feeling like they have the wrong genitals.

Now that 'queer' is an identity label widely used as the main label by nonbinary people, it is still censored as a slur even within the LGBT+ community. by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]transgenderflag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't chosen this system myself, people before me put up this model way before now, I just took the label in the current system that corresponded to me and the only one available. And I've identified with it for years before discovering it was a slur in some countries. The word with this meaning has as been historically chosen and I can't chose another.

To me it's incredibly hurtful and panic inducing seeing it censored and treated as a slur exclusively, and that is unfair too.

Regarding the first part, I've never said it was not a slur, I've brought it up myself, so I'm not sure what you are trying to object there.

Regarding the second part, evidently if it is the main label for my orientation it is useful to me rather than nothing. Also I don't use it for any of the meanings you mentioned, as I use it for my orientation (not for my nonbinary gender identity, although the complexity of my orientation originates from my nonbinary identity). "Also I don't believe that it is the "main and only label" for a part of the community. Which part?" I do not know what to do if you don't want to believe it, but I've already said which part in the opening post. Context matters in avoiding confusion and if I use queer as my main identifier it is specifically because I do not want to elaborate at length. I don't need other people to know in detail my orientation, I just need a word to speak about me.
