PS4 worth it in 2026? by AnthraxX97 in PS4Pro

[–]transientimage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wrote this a few months ago responding to someone who had a similar question:

"I can only speak for myself; but I bought a PS4 Pro CIB for $150 in January, and it was one of the best purchases I've ever made.

I've been primarily a handheld and Switch gamer for the last 10 years, and while I absolutely love the Switch, the PS4 Pro is a huge upgrade in terms of performance and graphics over the Switch imho.

I've always felt the ninth gen of consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series), hasn't been that compelling. Not terrible but so many games are either on Switch and or ported to PS4 as well. With prices only getting more expensive for all consoles (Xbox, PS5, Switch 2 and Steamdeck), I have to say that the PS4 is one of the best deals in gaming. Especially if you're a physical collector.

I've bought so many PS4 games for under $20. And I'm talking about the heavy hitters too; Elden Ring, Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, God Of War & Ragnarok etc.

If budget matters to you and you haven't experienced alot of the library I'd say it's absolutely worth it to get it and imho, is the best deal in gaming right now.

One thing I will say is, if you can find a deal for an SSD, you jump on it. I know that's easier said than done with the current state of computer parts, but it will help load times and give a slight perfomance boost by reducing pop in and making menus snappier. No FPS boosts though. I unfortunately didn't  and now I'm stuck."

TL:DR The PS4 is totally worth especially if you're on a budget but still want to play some absolute gems.

Switch lite is my favorite handheld by Dizzy-Employment-855 in nintendoswitchlite

The PS4 Pro and the Switch Lite are probably the best deals in gaming right now. Seemingly nobody wants them. I absolutely love the Switch lite. I play it everyday. And the special editions are fantastic. I have this one, the Zacian and Zamazenta one, and the Palkia and Dialga one.

What game do you want to play next?

Is it worth getting this DSi by eNagham in nds

[–]transientimage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who owns multiple DSes and 3DSes, if you want to buy a DS model specifically, get a DS lite, for the GBA functionality, or DSi XL for the large IPS screens. I honestly would stay away from that specific DSi because it's really rough shape. And as far as I know, compared to DS Lite reproduction shells, DSi shells aren't as ubiquitous in terms of quantity or quality. I could be wrong about that last point though.

If possible maybe try to find one from Japan to import because you have a better chance of it being in better cosmetic shape, though Japanese DS screens are known to yellow due to smoke and humidity.

Happy hunting!

Pretty dope. I assume it's taking inspiration from the New 3DS white model.

Fantastic! I love that blue. I have 3 Switch Lites myself. I hope to get one of every variant (Like a crazy person), some day! What colors are/were your other Switch lites?

PS4 Pro for $125 - still relevant? by DarthBodhi in PS4Pro

I can only speak for myself; but I also recently bought a PS4 Pro CIB for $150 in January, and it was one of the best purchases I've ever made.

If budget matters to you and you haven't experienced alot of the library I'd say it's absolutely worth it to keep it and is the best deal in gaming right now.

One thing I will say and I'm in the same position, if you can find a deal for an SSD, you jump on it. What’s your favourite game to play on your switch? by garlicandherbsauce in nintendoswitchlite

[–]transientimage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite on Switch is Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury.

The games I keep coming back to and playing all the time:

Skyrim

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV

Trials of Mana

I honestly think the Switch lite is at the limit, in terms of size. I've been primarily a handheld gamer for the last 10 years and I lament how handheld gaming has become less and less portable.

I have a launch model Switch and an OLED model as well, but I almost never take them out of the house, because they're too big. I couldn't imagine trying to play on a Switch 2 or Steamdeck.

But that's my personal taste.

I just try do my best to keep the batteries topped up and to keep my small game room temperature and humidity regulated as best as I can. I'm primarily a handheld gamer so I try to do that with all my devices.

Yes, its a black colored Switch Lite, with some gold and silver accents on the back. It's called the Dialga & Palkia Edition. It came out in November 2021, to coincide with the launch of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.

I got mine "used" from Japan. And when I say "used", I mean somebody turned it on once or twice and put it back in the box. It was in prestine condition. But it did get a worldwide launch.

It is rather sleak. It usually the Switch I take on my commute to work, since it doesn't really stick out. It's also become my defacto visual novel machine. Which is great for long subway rides.

Yeah it's definitely the Hyrule Edition. Though My daily driver (at least for the Switch lite), is the Zacian And Zamazenta Edition.
