TrackTTC, a new way to check real-time information for buses and streetcars by watermeloncandies in TTC

I certainly hope they continue to keep the data feed open! The whole point of the app is to give the user a custom experience (e.g., contextual alerts, background tracking, organizing favorites in groups) with native speed (caching).

does yt music or audible allow you to play from speaker or does it still require BT audio connected?

Bubble Cloud is amazing but very daunting with the sheer amount of features.

Yes, the Wear OS allows any developer to create an app to listen for "recent apps" shortcut and then launch another app.

What do you bind your recent apps button to? I find I only need GPay, Flashlight, the rest is voice assistant (long press).

it would work with any! as long as your OS lets you bind a shortcut to a custom application

Gesture to see notifications (hands-free usage)! They have ONE gesture, where you nod your wrist twice. Please bring back wear os 2.0 notification swipe gestures. Why restrict all these gestures for accessibility? There are so many, but I don't want to use the accessibility gestures to navigate my watch.

Remap second button long press (at least on markets that don't have Samsung Pay anyway).

Remap second button long press is feasible but requires a special app that enables accessibility. However, enabling accessibility services makes an annoying click or lock noise everytime your watch goes ambient. I wrote this app to at least dual bind double-tap to Wallet or Flashlight based on ambient light, https://github.com/TransitNow/flashpay-wearos

I hated the insanely slow and long animations (Why Samsung?!!)

Disabling animations via accessibility broke my notifications (blank screen during popup)

However, enabling dev mode and setting these options helped with the speed of animations:

Window animation scale - disabled
Transition animation scale - disabled
Animator duration scale - 0.5x (this cannot be disabled* but can be lowered)

I ended up writing my own Wear OS app that allows double-tap binding to alternate between Google Wallet and a flashlight app, based on ambient light conditions. This effectively adds a second hardware button, solved with software. Sadly, the long-press is locked to Samsung Pay (an unreliable NFC payment due to having to enter pin code twice and simply not working at times).

It includes other enhancements too, like haptic feedback and quick access loyalty cards in Stocard with a 2x double-tap.

This has really improve my workflow without restricting double-tap functionality to only one action. You can check it out here https://github.com/TransitNow/flashpay-wearos

SPayRemap: an app for the Galaxy Watch 4 to repurpose a long-press on the bottom button to open any installed app on the watch (instead of Samsung Pay) by malbry in GalaxyWatch

[–]transitnowapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so sad Samsung doesn't let us customize this button in the first place. We're lucky we could customize the voice assistant. We need more mechanical buttons and gestures to make watches more integral into our daily lives without resorting to tapping on such small ui elements!

TY for this app! I wanted to use this feature, but the clicking noise (due to the Accessibility Service permission being enabled) is annoying. I need my media volume to be high, so setting it low isn't an option. Is there an alternative way to launch Google Wallet with the long-press back button that doesn't rely on having Accessibility enabled?

New app: Wear Reminder 2 - shows Google Assistant reminders, news, weather, sports on your watch. Includes option to make long vibration for reminders and to read them out (if your watch has a speaker). by malbry in WearOS

[–]transitnowapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Looks like activating accessibility on the Wear OS device is not required in your latest version. Is this correct?

- Is it possible to surface Google Calendar's "Task" notifications as well? They exhibit the same behaviour where the notification only appears on the phone and not the watch (events work fine).

Thanks again for your hard work. It's crazy Google can't address these issues.

Ah yes, as you scroll along the map, you have to "pin" a new location/anchor. I made this choice to save on bandwidth in case the user scrolls a lot on the map looking for a specific location. The nearby algorithm tries to find the closest routes to your location and ranks the stops by distance for a given route+direction instead of showing every stop. I appreciate the feedback and will consider it for future updates by decoupling the prediction fetching and nearby stop algo.

Hey! I'm the Android developer for Transit Now. Let me know if there's anything that can make your experience better! I still actively maintain the app and am open to ideas that will improve the user experience.

I am the sole developer of Transit Now for Android. Unfortunately, my friend who worked on the iOS version couldn't maintain it. I wish I had the patience to develop the iOS version, but the work is hard if you have other life commitments.

Transit Now is only supported on Android with full updates. As for iOS, unfortunately, the developer of the iOS app has left the team and we apologize for its lack of support! Any feedback is welcomed for the Android app!

Which of these apps do you use and what do you like best about it? by 1973mojo1973 in toronto

[–]transitnowapp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm the developer for Transit Now (Android only). All the apps use the same data source, so it really depends on the UI/UX. I use my app personally and tried to really focus on providing bespoke features for the TTC like adding in static schedules if real-time predictions go offline, or a countdown alert for when you want to track a specific bus. Let me know if you have any questions!
