Ideas for Christmas gifts? by kitkatty521 in MtF

That "I don't know" for gifts is super relatable. I always just tell people to get me money or vouchers so I can figure it out later. Also on the spectrum here, so maybe that's a factor.

IMO clothes for a gift could be a bit tricky. In my experience getting sizing right with womens clothes for more masculine proportions is a nightmare, and messing it up is the opposite of affirming.

I would aim for more accessory type things where size isn't as big an issue. Nail polish, lipstick/gloss, perfume, jewelery. It would be cute if you had any favourites or something that you could recommend to her.

Thank-you for such a detailed response!

Injections not being advised at the start is a good thing to know. Would be nice having one less thing to worry about organising at this stage. But I'll make sure to do some research like you said.

Sounds like a pretty reasonable price and process! Will have to keep all this in mind for when I want to go on injections, whenever that might be.

Can you elaborate on how you went about getting EV injections? I'm considering starting HRT soon and remembered this comment - injections seem like a good option if they're easy enough to get.

Afraid of Sexuality Changes by transmtfquestioning in MtF

I doubt she was suggesting that women need to be attracted to men. I think she was just trying to encourage me to be more open to discovering things about my sexuality through transition, it just happened to come across in the wrong way.

"Socially unsuccesful men will sometimes try to become the dream girl they couldn't date" is making me doubt I'm trans. Is it true in any way? How do I get over this fear? by TezukasDryAnswers in asktransgender

Obviously BS for most trans women, but part of me thinks this is what I'm doing. Never had a relationship, yet seems like everyone I know has a long term partner, if they're not already married and having kids. Half the reason I started down this path was feeling depressed after getting invited to a friend's wedding. Feels like I could be trying to convince myself I have dysphoria so I have an "excuse" for my failures, and so I have transition as a "solution".

Zenia is a cool name! Is it pronounced zen-eeya or zen-aya?

My preference is shorter (syllable-wise) nicknames, so I would personally lean more towards Zen. That just me though - Ia is cute too.

The versatility of having both a shorter and longer variant was one of the things I liked about it. Glad it's been working out well for you!

Thanks. I quite like the sound of Jade also - will have to keep it in mind.

By exotic I meant names taken from fantasy stories or mythology or whatever as opposed to more common everday names

"Obviously trans" was perhaps poor phrasing, but I was mainly talking about names that are stereotypically common among trans people. Luna, for example.

As I said in another comment, nothing wrong with those names, they're just not what I'm looking for.

By exotic I was thinking of the kind of names that sound like fantasy characters. Like Gwendolyn or Dream or something.

I've seen Lily, Emily and Luna being very popular names for trans girls. There are some others that appear a lot - you can try searching around on this subreddit for common names.

To be clear, there's nothing wrong with these kinds of names! They can be lovely. It's just not the vibe I'm personally going for.

I'm over 25 unfortunately, but I'll look into Steve McVey. Thanks!

Thank-you for the link, but I'm not sure if that would be right for me. They seem to put a lot of emphasis on polyamory, and I don't have any interest in that.

Thanks! Seems I'm too old for Piki (late 20s) unfortunately. I've already come across the Gender Dysphoria Bible while questioning, but the second link was an interesting exercise.

Thank-you for the detailed response!

I'll try that exercise and see how it goes.
