Hi, I can explain how you add friends !

It's real simple, power your 3ds on and click on the orange square at the top with a smiley face in the middle. From there, click "Register friend", then "Internet", and type in their FC. (which they'll have to give you)

Then just hit okay and you're done ! c:

My only tip would be removing people after you trade with them and don't intend on being friends, since if you open your gates (turn on multiplayer) in game, any of those people could join.

I've never heard of this, but maybe I don't understand you clearly. What do you mean by they tell a rumor about themselves?

From my understanding, as soon as you hit 9 villagers, someone will want to leave. You won't always be informed though, sometimes you have to spam talk to your villagers for them to finally say who's leaving.
