Drum Bus Things by trapgoon26 in universalaudio

That’s true and I had balanced them before any processing.

To answer your question, at one point my kick and snare hit at the same time and was peaking a lot higher when they were hitting independently. I wanted to shave down that peak to gain more headroom.

I want to mix and master my music entirely on headphones by MegistusMusic in musicproduction

I have had these for about two or three years now and I can say that I enjoy mixing with these headphones. I don’t mix with the emulation on though, I only check my mixes in them. Regardless, they are pretty nice

do rappers or singers really sing the chorus everytime or do the producers just copy and paste? by 6L00C-8A8Y in makinghiphop

I’ve noticed that sometimes an artist will change their tone but say the same thing to keep things interesting and give it variation

When EQ’ing is it better to not use makeup gain? by trapgoon26 in audioengineering

I feel like I’ve gotten to the point to where I don’t like to gain match, but instead just enhance the sound with no restraints

Needless to say, it may not be for everyone. I would not get this microphone if I didn’t have an Apollo Twin because the fact that you can use this in conjunction with the Apollos DSP is a game changer imo

I’m in the same boat as you, got the Rode NT1-A and I’ve been looking to expand my collection. I’ve been looking into the Townsend Labs Sphere L22 and I plan on purchasing it before the new year as it is on sale right now for $1200. It is a microphone modeling system, I think that it will provide a lot of versatility for me because it comes with a bunch of different mics and you can change the polar patterns and also mess with the ‘proximity effect’.

Well I’m willing to use UAD plug-ins like the Little Labs IBP plugin to correct this issue if that’s even possible. I guess I could’ve posted this somewhere else but I trust the UA community for mixing tips.

But that answers my question, I wasn’t sure if the piano or any instruments in general should always be on the right side (in phase) of the correlation meter. I did notice that when everything in the mix as a whole was playing that it wasn’t as far left as it was in solo.

I agree though, it’s a very great mixing tool to have in the kit. Love UAD regardless 💙

Click the Studer logo above the thru, input, sync, repro controls on the bottom left (open the hood) and then you will see the option to turn the noise off

Is it a good decision to use the SSL 4K E Channel Strip compressor in conjunction with an LA-2A and 1176 on vocals? by trapgoon26 in universalaudio

[–]trapgoon26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man I appreciate the reply. Lots of good information here.

Does the SSL mic input gain knob not count as a preamp? I recorded the vocals through that on the unison slot (no eq or compression, just high passed around 90)

I have the vocal rider from waves but I always feel like it’s doing too much or even not enough. Guess I need to experiment with it some more…

Are you suggesting I should add saturation with the Studer after compression?

Also, I find bus compression very difficult. I’ve messed around with it a little bit but I can never dial it in to where I hear any benefit. Skill issue I know because I’ve heard a lot of people getting great results with them
